CB Chris Hawkins Commits To USC

Cerritos (Calif.) CB Chris Hawkins (6-0, 175) just announced he is committed to USC.

"I committed to USC because that is my dream school and that's the school I've wanted to go to since I was a little kid," said Hawkins. "I was really hoping to get an offer from USC and when it was mind boggling when I got it. USC is the school my whole family wants me to go to, so that's the school I will be attending."

Since USC offered, Hawkins visited USC unofficially three times for spring practices. He and Rancho Cucamonga Teammate S Tahaan Goodman, among others, took in USC's scrimmage on Saturday (3/31).

We asked Hawkins how much of an impact the three visits had on his decision to commit to USC.

"The three visits I took to USC gave me a lot to think about," Hawkins said. "It gave me an opportunity to get closer to players on the team now, some players in my class and the coaches. I talked to some of the players in my class, like Su'a Cravens, and it's just great to be around USC with what they have going right now and who they have coming up."

There were some big-time prospects (have offers) who visited USC yesterday and all could end up Trojans.

Chris Hawkins, Tahaan Goodman, Su'a Cravens, Joe Mathis, Max Browne, Michael Hutchings, Kenny Lacy and Priest Willis all took unofficial visits to USC on Saturday.

"It could possibly happen," said Hawkins about the chances of all of the previously listed prospects ending up at USC. "I talk to the players who love USC whenever I visit, and for us to all be in the same class and all on the same team in college, we'll probably have the No. 1 class going into our freshman year."

We will have more on the Hawkins commitment later today.

***NOTE*** Hawkins will be enrolling at USC in January.
