Headline this am: "Indiana Gov. Daniels: Not me for vice president"
So, maybe he's off the list.
But who will be the man/woman in the end?

Portman may be a wise political choice, although a very very boring one. Last I saw, Obama was ahead in Ohio and Portman may be what Romney needs to carry the state.
As you probably know, in the modern times, the Republicans who have won the presidential election have won Ohio.

Perhaps Romney will have his Sarah Palin momment and ask Ted Nugent to join him.
On a more serious note, I believe it will be Marco Rubio. However, I do not believe that will help Romney much with the Hispanic vote outside of Florida. It may help him some with conservatives and with Florida.

I don't think Portman, or Ohio even, cinches it for Romney. As unexciting of a pick that Portman may be, at least it makes strategical sense.

True. McDonnell helps in Virginia too. Gov Martinez (R-NM) helps with women, hispanics, and is in a swing state.

He ought to pick Larry Elder, Mark Levin, John Batchelor or Andrew Wilkow. However, if he did, there would be no vice presidential debate. Joe Biden would run and hide at the thought of facing any of them.

Do you mean Jeremiah Wright? In the unlikely event that Romney is looking to a cleric from Christianity's progressive wing, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have more name recognition.

Peyton/Eli Manning, Brett Favre or Marco Rubio are the 3 that my research team have recently discovered would be the best choices for VP in 2012.
Rush Limbaugh Jenifer Lopez and Donovan McNabb would each be considered poor choices for VP we have discovered, but that can all change in a few months.

From glancing at his Wikipedia page and a quick Google search, it seems like his family, for whatever reason attended a Mormon church for three years when they lived in Vegas, from the time Rubio was 8 to 11. He received his first communion at 13. I don't know the story on why the family went back and forth, but I think we can say it's unlikely he converted back to make it easier to become a politician decades later (I'm not saying that's what you're implying, I'm just saying that because people like Bobby Jindal and Nikki Haley, for example, have been accused of converting to Christianity just to get elected)
