Steve Nash to the LAL done deal?

Since 2005 when the Lakers drafted Andrew Bynum the only the last first round pick the Lakers draft was Javaris Crittenton in 2007. Jordan Farmar drafted in 2006 was with the Miami Heat draft pick.

Having young players help develops the bench.

I think the lakers have shown this not to be the case

  • Ric Bucher says the Lakers need Andre Iguodala. I think the Lakers may trade Pau Gasol for Andre Iguodala.

    RicBucher Ric Bucher
Not to rain on the parade, but Lakers need an Iguodala or athletic 3 now more than ever for this move to translate to a full upgrade.

  • I think the Lakers have to keep Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum. The Lakers need a three point shooter and a power forwards to help the bench.

Going to be tough to do if you're planning on keeping Gasol and Bynum. The lakers don't have the dough under the cap to bring the kind of help you mention.

If the Lakers can sign Grant Hill to a minimum contract and resign Jordan Hill they can use the mini mid level exception to sign a free agent. Also, they can trade Josh McRoberts.

    Beasley sounds better.

I thought he was crazy for doing it after his playoff performance. Bet he's kicking himself in the ass over that one lol

What will their mid-level be? More than likely 3 mil? Who will take McRoberts? I think it's going to be easier said than done. Kobe has hamstrung the lakers making 30 million. 3 million doesn't get you much anymore.

This hurts the future of the Lakers. I am excited he is coming to the Lakers but it hurts the rebuilding after Kobe Bryant.

    http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/8130840/sources-steve-nash-headed-los-angeles-lakers-sign-trade-deal

The Suns will receive 2013 and 2015 first-round picks and 2013 and 2014 second-round picks from the Lakers, according to the Arizona Republic.

The significance of the picks, as Adande pointed out, is that if lakers wanted to trade for Dwight they would've asked for picks and Bynum. Might have to find a 3rd team to facilitate

Gotta be crazy not to want to play with Kobe. I don't understand Nash not wanting to play with Kobe. Can't believe what Steve said, last week. Well...end of the day...now he has to play with Kobe.

Ohhhhhhh........I can live with that. Dude is a fierce competitor. I survived Karl Malone putting on a LAker uniform, so I can survive this.

Kobe has to tell Mike Brown to sit down and shut the fuck up, put away his clipboard and just nod yes to whatever Kobe says.

    lollollollol

Isn't that what's basically happening right now?

Love this deal. They got stronger without giving anything up. Still have a ways to go to rebuild that bench, but this basically turned out to be a Lamar Odom for Steve Nash exchange.

Anyone that doesn't think a PG who averaged 12.5 points and 10.7 assists while shooting 53.2 percent from the field and 39 percent from 3-point range will be a major asset for this team didn't watch many Laker games last year.

His game complements Kobe/Bynum perfectly, and if they end up keeping Pau, they'll have three guys with some of the highest basketball IQs on the floor the same time.

    What'd he say last week?

It was relatively tame and a completely understandable sentiment:

    --------------------------------------------------------------

Ironically, though, Nash said just last week in a radio interview with ESPN NewYork 98.7's Stephen A. Smith and Ryan Ruocco that it would be difficult on some levels to join Miami after the Heat just won the championship or sign with the Lakers after all their playoff battles the past eight years.

"The truth is I'm a bit old school," Nash said in the June 25 interview. "For me, it would be hard to put on a Lakers jersey. That's just the way it is. You play against them so many times in the playoffs, and I just use them as an example, and I have the utmost respect for them and their organization.

"I kind of have that tendency (to try to beat the best teams), so it is strange, but as a free agent you're free to go where you want, so I'd have to consider everything regardless of the past or the future."

  • Interesting

    ---------------------------------------------
A source familiar with the Lakers' thinking told ESPNLosAngeles.com's Dave McMenamin the team intends to keep its core of Bryant, Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum together next season now that Nash will be in the fold.

Steve Nash headed to Los Angeles Lakers in sign-and-trade deal - ESPN Los Angeles

Two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash has successfully negotiated a sign-and-trade deal from the Phoenix Suns to the Los Angeles Lakers that will team him up with Kobe Bryant.

Yeah, he'd be a solid pick up. I want Nick Young though. Actually both if possible. You'd have a good shooter and a hustler.

Looks like it's going to be Grant Hill. Which means, our backup PG is Darius Morris. uhoh
