I look forward to it. Certainly things are well set up in the first two books. The Character development and the arches they have traveled so far have been good, but I get the feeling that we have just scratched the surface so far.

"USA Today" named George RR Martin it's Author of The Year for 2011.
That's some pretty cool recognition for Martin. Hopefully this convinces the guy to sit down and actually do some writing.

Wow! Wow! Wow!
For any that have finished "A Dance With Dragons" (Book 5) and can't wait for "The Winds of Winter" to be released, Martin released a chapter from the upcoming sixth book of the series. I am not going to post a link, as the name of the chapter alone would be a spoiler for those working through books 3 or 4.......but a quick google search will help anyone find the newly released chapter from book 6.
This was totally unexpected and it gives me some hope that we won't have to wait another 3+ years for "The Winds of Winter" to be released.

Below is a link to the most negative opinion piece I have read about either the *"A Song of Fire And Ice" book series, or season 1 of "Game of Thrones".
One of the strongest disagreements I have with the author of the piece is an assertion that adults will not understand the story, while suggesting that kids will. I couldn't disagree with that opinion more strongly if I tried. The themes and plot of the overall story is one that I believe an adult could only begin to fully understand. IMO, most teens don't have enough life experiences to draw upon in order to understand the motivations of many of the characters in the series.
*"A Song of Fire And Ice" is the name of the series in which "Game of Thrones" is the first book/TV season.

I am about 800 pages into book three and shit just got real. These books pull no punches.
I do fear that Martin has no resolution to the story. 'Winter is coming', but should we have any expectation of a spring again?

I agree with everything you just posted. Shit definetly does get real towards the end of Book 3.
Also, Martin originally planned for the series to be a trilogy. My personal opinion is that he fell in love with the world he created and has extended the series......and after all this time, there might not be any true resolution.

If he wants to leave a legacy for his books he will find an end. It may be too late already.
