i personally LOVE direcTV but something to think about if you are a Lakers fan..the new TIME WARNER deal starts next year (2012-2013) and the only way you will be able to catch games is if you have time warner cable as they will no longer be on k-cal nor fox sports west. if you get DTV or dish you'll be stuck watching the shitty clippers on ktla and fsn

Aren't those only to stop build up of snow and ice? They won't helping a heavy snow, or even heavy rain when the actual falling precipitation interferes with signal. I have had momentary disruption in very heavy rain. I don't see how a heater could prevent that.
Normal rainfall is no problem though, and I have used direct TV in a light snow too without problem.

two things.
1) when you say Direct TV is the shit you are complementing them. Shit is bad, The Shit is good.
2) That is not really a direct TV issue it is a failure of the DVR that can happen with any DVR. You had a disk error or corruption of some kind. That is in no way unique to Direct TV. I have a program I saved from 6 years ago that I can still watch.

I know, I was intending to compliment them. I love DirecTV. I can see how one might think I don't though, since my following sentence was a bit negative. I'll have to see if there is a protect option like OldTrojan suggested and then I will have no complaints at all (regarding DirecTV or DVR).

Time Warner has the deal, but they will license the channel out to everyone.
DirectTV is the way to go. Te only exception would be if you love someplace with extremely bad weather in which case cable may be more reliable than satellite.

If it is available, get Verizon Fios. I had DirecTV and like many posters here thought it was great. Then I switched to Verizon Fios and the picture is better and the tv has never gone out ever. Fios internet has never gone out either, rain and all. DirecTV has gone out a handful of times due to bad weather. Only thing is Sunday Ticket is not offered so I just go to Buffalo Wild Wings for my sunday NFL.
Oh yeah, and Time Warner sucks balls!!!!
