I thought about seeing Les Miserables but then I remembered that I don't have a vagina.
Did anyone see "The Sessions"?
If so, how was it?
I just saw Django Unchained and did not enjoy it. Middling plot, cartoonish superviolence - just like every other Tarantino movie since Jackie Brown. I thought Jamie Foxx did a good job with his acting but that's about it.
Tarantino seems to just be a caricature of himself now. I thought the same thing about Wes Anderson and Moonrise Kingdom.

I'm guessing the guy that played Marius was your schoolmate.

I'm headed out right now to catch an early showing of Zero Dark Thirty.
I'm expecting great things.
I think you will enjoy it. Every person I know who has seen it has really liked it a lot.
It was easily one of the top 3 movies from 2012 that I've seen.
Jessica Chastain was great. Chastain's performance was the best performance I've seen from a lead actress in those movies that came out in 2012. This was the first time I've seen her on screen. She has talent.
The fact that Kathryn Bigelow didn't get nominated in the Best Director category is an absolute fucking joke.
I agree. I loved Les Mis. Especially the fact that they did all the singing on camera instead of pre-recording.
And I agree with your earlier post. Anne Hathaway essentially won Best Supporting Actress two chords into I Dreamed A Dream. It's years like this that I feel bad for the other people nominated in certain categories, because it's not even close.
I thought Django Unchained was an excellent film...but I couldn't enjoy it really. The first half was great. Christopher Waltz is awesome. But the violence got a bit too much for me in the second half. The sadistic nature of it made me uncomfortable.
I also wasn't crazy about the ending. It was the same problem I had with Inglorious Basterds. There's supposed to be a payoff in the vengeance, but it's so outrageous by that point that the payoff is hollow.
After seeing all of the major contenders to win major awards in the next couple of months, Django was my favorite film of 2012, but I most definitely understand why many have been turned off by the violence and/or language. I told my Mom not to see it, as it was probably the most violent movie I've ever seen. She doesn't like that type of stuff. She would have walked out.
Christoph Waltz just won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Dr. King Schultz in "Django Unchained".
It was great to see Chastain win the Golden Globe. She deserved it.

Why can't he go back to making more movies like his older ones? They were great.
People enjoy sound in their movies.
Have any of you seen "The Impossible"?
If so, would you recommend the film to others?
I saw "Side Effects" last night and I would highly recommend this one. Rooney Mara deserves an Academy Award nomination for her work in "Side Effects". Jude Law was also very good.
I also got to see Top Gun in 3-D. That was a lot of fun. It's been 27 years since the first time I saw Goose die, but it still chokes me up every time I watch the movie. :(
If you haven't seen this, it's pretty good.
After winning best supporting actress at the SAG Awards, Golden Globes and Critics Choice, ANNE HATHAWAY reminds the Academy, one last time, why she must (and will) win at the 85th Academy Awards.

The Academy Awards are being held tonight. I am curious to see how Seth McFarlane will do as host.
