Nope - read more carefully.
I stated clearly that Woodward made the claim - which is a stretch, to say the least. (which I said in my very first post on this thread)
The administration grabbed onto THAT piece of the story, totally ignoring the actual reporting that caused the perceived "threat." Now the media is focused on Woodward's claims rather than the fact that sequestration originally came from Obama and that he has been moving the goalposts ion getting deal done.
It really is a case study in deflection and distraction.
The WH was blamed for threatening a reporter. The WH responded by denying it. What is so surprising about that? Regarding the substance, the WH has discussed the origin of the sequester for a long time. It has not avoided those facts.
Regarding your last sentence, aren't you the one that lectured me about making things personal a couple of days ago?
No - I advised that you not use nonsense words and hyper-partisan statements. If you are going to accuse me of something, be accurate.
Chris has mischaracterized my posts on more than one occasion, choosing to ignore things that I have stated quite clearly. There is a reason for my low opinion of his critical thinking skills.
When you posted:
"Now, the story is about Woodward's claim of being threatened, which to anyone reading the email exchange, is a stretch -- it effectively distracts from and discredits what would otherwise be damaging to the Obama administration.
These guys do this better than any administration that I have ever seen, it really is something that someone in the PR business should study closely."
What did the Obama administration do in this situation that would make you say, "These guys do this better than any administration that I have ever seen..."?
Again, what did the administration do other than sending Woodward a very cordial email? The Obama administration can't control how Woodward reacted to the situation. The White House wasn't controlling the narrative on this issue. It was Woodward that went public.
Correct, but the administration made THAT the story, not the reporting and facts that resulted in the email to Woodward.
If you have never sat in a PR war room, you may not understand this, but if you can get someone to react to you response to them, you then control the message. You have made the situation about the response, rather than events that lead up to the response.
This is what I think the Obama administration does better than any administration I have ever seen. Bush's team would get bogged down in teh facts and accusations of being mislead -- addressing the actual issues, which lead to more scrutiny of the facts.
Obama's team gets the gift from Woodward of his over-the-top reaction to the email and they focus on that reaction, instead of the issues that Woodward was writing about. The story becomes about Woodward's reaction, instead of sequestration.
“Close tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share,” Reagan vowed.
I wonder why he'd be so bias.
That was on the stimulus. Here's some thoughts on the current brouhaha.
The New Republic tackles politics, culture, and big ideas from an unbiased and thought-provoking perspective.
Why does the WH continue to give Woodward such extensive access? I do not know of any other reporter with so much access.
I guess because that would be a story in and of itself. The stupid thing is that, when his inferences have been thoroughly debunked, people go on believing it. For example, what are the odds that Adamson goes on believing this stuff?
I posted this story 5 minutes after I saw Buster Olney tweet about it. His tweet was right when it "broke." People like Morethan, Cstory and deetj13 have done a good job in this thread clearing up the "issue," showing it should have been a non-story from the start. Like I said though, I originally posted this before the emails came out and when it appeared to be a trending topic.
And it is a story which turned into a good thread. Thanks for posting it. But how many people on the Right draw the worst possibly inference and didn't do the time to check on the whole story? I bet a whole load of people. And so the Obama hate machine keeps turning...
I waited, but I don't know how right I am.
There was nothing to check on at the time. To be honest, I didn't think it would even become a big story. Figured this thread would slowly filter to the bottom of the page, like many others.
I am not criticisizing you for posting the thread. It was news. And it turned into a good thread. It is just somewhat disappointing how the Right usually blow up about some perceived terrible thing which Obama does and moves on before the facts show something else entirely. This whole saga is a great example. The same folks angry at Woodward for his book on the ineptness of the Bush Administration during Iraq all of a sudden sanctify him when the White House 'threatens him' and uses it as another stone to throw. You never see the same folks offer a thoughtful mea culpa when the facts don't suit their worldview.
The best thing about this thread is that none of us lefties started attacking Woodward when this story broke yesterday. We all wanted answers, but we didn't jump all over the guy because he said something that portrayed The Obama administration in a negative manner.
Being that it was Woodward that said he felt somewhat threatened by the email, I believed there was an actual news worth story here. My first response was to try to understand who would send that type of email. My boy, Rahm Emanuel, is no longer a part of the Obama administration.

The hatred of Obame began the second it became apparent the possibility he could actually be elected President existed, and it has never let up.
It makes me smile. a lot when I think about how he has kicked their fucking asses at every turn, to the point they are reduced to making non stories like this one " proof positive" of how evil he is.
I saw a clip of Lard Ass Limbaugh the other day talking about how the WH is using this hilarious video of her dancing with Jimmy Fallon to launch a Michele Obama for President Campaign
And the Righties wonder why people are abondoning them in National Politics
In honor of the First Lady's "Let's Move" campaign, and to encourage parents everywhere to get up and get moving with their kids, Jimmy Fallon and Michelle Obama present the "Evolution of Mom Dancing."

Exactly. They don't realize that this monomanical psychosis turns most centrist types off them. And it clogs up space where the GOP could actually be proposing much more thoughtful policy.
The Onion decided to have some fun at Woodward's expense.
WASHINGTONt been a relevant force in American journalism in 40 years.
I laughed very hard when I read this. I love The Onion.
Yes. Supposedly, Obama is our Messiah. We are up his rear. We worship him. As you pointed out, no one defended him when news broke. That shows how silly those accusations are.
Of course the truth of the matter isn't what is important...
Pigs really can fly — almost. On Sunday, exactly one day after President Obama’s most recent assertion that the GOP was solely to blame for opening the Pandora’
But of course, with this President, it's not a lie...just a misrepresentation. The lefties here defended Obama's lies in the debates as the truth it doesn't matter now that it was all a lie...The lying liar and the liars that lie for him!
What's important is protecting the liar and if that means destroying someone that is telling the truth, then so be it.

I actually listened to Sperling's whole interview. Continue spouting your conservative ideology and ignore the context of what was said.
