Well, it was nice while it lasted...
The U.S. Postal Service plans to stop delivering letters and other first-class mail on Saturdays beginning Aug. 1, although packages will continue to be delivered.

Hopefully that'll curb some of the junk mail I get.
You'll just get more during the week.
Junk mail is a pet peeve of mine, particularly since my mailbox is small and my mailman carelessly tries to jam everything in there together, bending and crinkling everything up. I'd pay a monthly/yearly fee to NOT receive any junk mail.
Yeah! Now just wait till Mondays when they have 3 days worth of mail to stuff in there. And on holidays that land on Monday (the biggest holiday day) you will have 4 days worth of mail on tuesday.
I have the same problem you do...PLUS...an a-hole neighbor that waters too far and drenches the mail boxes, of which I am the end box that gets the most spray. My mailbox is water tight to 100 meters. LOL But if the mailman has to leave the front open because it is full? I'm toast!
"...an economy hampered by restrictive tax rates will never produce enough jobs or enough profits" JFK
It sounds like there might also be some upcoming changes to Wednesday delivery.
WASHINGTONs newly announced plans to discontinue Saturday mail delivery service, Postmaster General Patrick R.

The amount of junk mail we get is just astounding to me. Everyone goes nuts over spam in your email but for some reason we accept getting the physical equivalent in our mailboxes. All my bills are set to paperless delivery, so I would guess that 95% of the mail I receive is junk. I can only imagine how much paper is wasted, not to mention the extra gas and physical effort by the delivery people to haul all this garbage around.
...checks in the mail...hahahhahahhah
Feelings get hurt, best not to have any!

I don't care. There is rarely anything in my mail that I care about.
I did not open the link, however, will they still be dispersing mail inside at the PO boxes at the post office on Saturdays, or are they closing on Saturdays altogether?
"There will be no changes to post offices that are currently open on Saturday and mail will continue to be delivered to PO boxes."
Kaiser delivers pills by Post Office, this doesn't help.
I get some medications by mail. That is about the only thing of value I get by mail. However, I leave a significant amount of time to make sure I receive it before I run out of my supply. The P.O. being closed for a day will not harm me. Just be careful to leave yourself enough time.
Do you really receive pills via regular first-class stamped mail? I would have thought they'd get sent via Priority, which isn't affected by this announcement.
I think it's snail mail, first time trying it, but I ordered it with an ample supply still left. I don't mind Saturday being taken off. Just needed to vent about Kaiser and the 5 days it took them to take the order down for some reason this time.
I am not certain despite using mail order pharmacies for years, but I believe mine is sent first class mail. I need to take a closer look next time.
I get my meds via UPS. Even if it was cheaper to go through the regular mail, my health is worth a couple of $ extra.
