Besieged by criticism from right and left, and considerable skepticism from his former Senate colleagues, Chuck Hagel appears to be following the path of Susan Rice as a trial-balloon nominee who finds himself
well speaking of the late Mr. Bork, the libs did set a standard.......
Was this issue he did pay his taxes?

What is your problem with Sen Hagel? When, and under what circumstances, would you advocate opposing a nomination? You know this isn't a game, right? It's not 'conservatives vs. liberals' like UCLA vs. USC.
bullshit. Nominees have been blocked a lot longer than Bork. More right wing myth making.
If they were playing a game of cons vs lib wouldn't they all behind Hagel? This sounds like a genuine objection to his views on defending the country
The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen - Dennis Prager
He didn't back Bush during the war so now it's payback. Nevermind that he was painfully right and they were painfully wrong. Makes you weep for America.
Is it payback or do they disagree with him ideologically? Either way that's cons vs cons not the game of cons vs libs you alluded to.
fyi, politicians being politicians over the sec of def appintment is not what makes me weep for America.
Not that I'm crying for american but I'm more concerned that our special interets own our politicians and whats best for America is secondary to getting re-elected.
I'm more concerned that Americans culture has moved away from personal responsibility and presonal accountablity and instead prefers that daddy gov't take responsibility for our lives.
I'm more concerned that American culture has turned to where notorious is more desirable than anonymous.
Politicians being douche bag politicans...nah, that SOP and barely moves the needle on the Monkey Weep-O-Meter

When you work with the 'other side', you become the 'other side'.
You care about the special interests calling the shots? What do you call this? This might not be the banks or corporate America buying Congress like usual, but the neocons are nothing if not an ideological special interest.

Like John Huntsman?
I think you're reaching my friend.
I'm not enough of a pollyanna to think only the other side is vulnerable to the coruuption that comes with what our gov't has become. It's both sides. And as long as we continue to empower the feds in this way it will remain profitable for wealthy interests from both side to "invest" in the ownership of the peoples "representitives".
I do not have a problem one way or another with Hagel. The libs have set a new low in conformations with folks like Mr. Bork and now have to live with it.
Liberals make it worse then USC v Ucla when they play the Bork and Thomas games.
This is too funny.
Again, the Bork thing is a myth. There is a long history of contested nominees that predates Bork. The idea it started with or got worse with Bork is just a lie.
Fact remains Bork was one of the most cynically partisan nominations in recent history. He held some very extreme views that were out of the mainstream. Bork had already proven himself a willing participant in partisan political corruption. If his extreme views did not make him an unworthy candidate surely that should have.
We are much better off with his nomination having been defeated. Don't forget, even in his partisan nomination a number of senators from each party voted each way and ultimately he was defeated by the largest margin ever
by the way, anyone notice that they are starting to go after Hilary again, after a few years of conservatives liking her? I guess it is not too early to start attacking her for 2016....
so to recap, republicans are playing us vs them by making noise about vetoing one of their own?

i never was a hillary fan, she was a woman who stayed with bill during his cheats for her power and to claim her position she now holds.
As for hillary in 2016, not happening, obama will need 8 more years before he is responsible if my math with you guys is correct.
How 'reaching' when you just gave another great example.
Hagel is more than qualified for this position. He wasn't on 'Team GOP' when he was in the Senate and thought for himself. Now he is being punished for it.
He hates Jews. Do you?
Potholes for us, Pensions for them
You just described your president. Iran backs Hagel. Iran backs Obama. Iran wants to nuke Israel. You want Israel off the face of the Earth.
