An interesting fact: "One expert even estimated that America’s failure to address the lead paint problem early on may well have cost the American population, on average, five IQ points—enough to double the number of retarded children and halve the number of gifted children in the country. Not only would our nation have been more intelligent had its leaders banned lead paint early on, it might have been safer too, since lead is known to cause impulsivity and aggression. Blood lead levels in adolescent criminals tend to be several times higher than those of noncriminal adolescents, and there is a strong geographical correlation between crime rates and lead exposure in US citie."
This is becoming a bigger and bigger issues. Fascinating stuff too.

And there seems to be a correlation between the heaviest areas of concentration and areas heavily democrat.
"...an economy hampered by restrictive tax rates will never produce enough jobs or enough profits" JFK
Did you eat paint chips as a kid?
Which is weird, because you seem like you grew up in a lead box or something and yet are a staunch hard-line Republican.
Making cheap partisan points which are not even very good rather than caring about public policy. You should be a Tea Party candidate for Congress.
once again making characterizations that outside your knowledge. Seems to be habit.
I won't call you an ass. But I will suggest that you stick to the topic and stop personal attacks. I could reciprocate but choose not to do so.
It had nothing to do with partisan points. It is a fact that the influence of lead has been proportionately higher in areas of high democrat concentrations.
I put 3 *** in the post because I knew you would be true to form and attack me instead of answering why. Which is pretty basic. Older buildings in older areas (urban) are more likely to have and still have paint which had lead in it. This also tends to be where there are democratic strongholds.
One has to wonder though, did the lead have an influence on the democratic thinking? Especially in the area of entitlements. So my comment was not a jab but rather a point that would normally be discussed, But instead you go for the personal attack.
Do yourself a favor. Don't respond to me. Because I have put you back on ignore. You obviously have a problem with me and it might do you well to do the same with me. That will keep you from having to do personal attacks...and save you time too.
Yeah, Mother Theresa here is just making solid, intellectual points and everyone keeps responding with partisan points! You can't make it up. This was not a stupid partisan jab but an incisive point which neared discussion: 'One has to wonder though, did the lead have an influence on the democratic thinking?"
This poster is what is wrong with America.
So, after that brief interruption: a federal program to get rid of the lead? Thoughts?
I troubled by the fact that there isn't already a federal program in place to get rid of the lead.
Agreed. I loathe superfluous legislation but this one seems like a no brainer.
Lead shot should be addressed as well. The golden and bald eagles we get at Birds of Prey Foundation would die without treatment.
There'd be construction jobs in it too. Tell your Congressman to act!
I looked for anything referring to geographical use of lead and could not find it. What is your source for that?
Oh believe me honey, I have my congressman on speed dial. And I tell him to do a little more than act!!!
I am sure, in your case, he has no need to.
