We still have it here...so far. No planes falling out of the air that we can see yet. Civil unrest hasn't hit either but we expect it anytime. I will try and keep you updated as the day progresses. We will try and hold out as long as we can.
God speed to everyone and your families as Obamageddon unfolds.
"...an economy hampered by restrictive tax rates will never produce enough jobs or enough profits" JFK
If your criteria is whether planes are falling out of the sky, the internet and electricity works or there is civil unrest, why not just cut all of the defense budget? Why not have a zero budget for that? None of those things would happen the first day it goes into effect.

Its called moderation. Living within your means.
That is so typical of you. Take an extreme angle and make that your argument.
Sequestration isn't even talking about cuts. Its talking about not adding as much as we would.
It was your Messiah that predicted the end of the world as we know it.
You did not make that argument. You made the imiplicit argument that the cuts were good because we still had electricity, etc. I pointed out that those criteria are silly. Please show me where anyone claimed that we would lose electricity or the internet or that planes would fall out of the air the first morning of sequester. Of course, that is nonsense. If you want to be taken seriously, argue real facts, not conservative delustions that bounce around the CEC.
By the way, who are you calling my messiah? John McCain? Randy Forbes? Austin Scott? Lyndsey Graham? There are so many politicians (literally hundreds) that pointed out the negative effects of the sequestration that it is hard to know to whom you are referring. It seems that virtually all of the politicians, other than Tea Party members, claim that it is a bad idea.
It might have been a good idea to wait another 13 hours before starting this thread.
Agree do I've got my official Alex Jones Survival Kit on stand by!

This is what I will be doing at 9 tonight.

And I bet you'll look just as good doing it.
I don't have either. I posted this with my mind.
I am happy that I am currently living in a state with liberal gun laws.
PS -- CS, that gun would be banned under the federal gun-control laws you have been supporting.
Good one lol
Just out of curiosity, it is an assault rifle? If not, why would it be banned?
Considering secgraphics intense paranoia about tyrannous US government and how a few middle-aged patriots will need to take up arms, Red Dawn-style, I can't quite make out whether the OP is seriously. It seems the height of irony that he might accuse his President of being hysterical about anarchy and chaos.
“Close tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share,” Reagan vowed.
No. It looks like a WWII/Korea-era M1 .30 carbine, with two mags taped together at the center so that you can release the mag and flip it over without grabbing a new one.
It looks like a single hi-cap mag but it's not.
You are familiar with deet's gun?
EDIT: I finally realized that deet was not writing about his gun. He was referring to the gun in CS' post. I just had a brain fart.
I did a quick search and found that the rifle in the picture IS the M1 carbine, which is not an assault rifle under any definition and thus not banned anywhere. Some states like CA may restrict the capacity of the magazine but the weapon itself is legal in its stock configuration.
I'm about as serious as Barry's over the top claims coming into today.
Yes, it may be tough. And tough decisions will need to be made. But we need leaders not chicken littles that use speaking opportunities to attempt to strike fear in America as a way to bargain with those he should be working with.
And I'm not saying Barry is alone. But he does seem to be the one doing the most fear mongering.
The government may have to switch from Starbucks to Folgers if any more is cut
Looks like an M1 Carbine. It is a semi-automatic firearm originally designed for US combat troops in WWII. The standard magazine carried 15 rounds, but the in the photo is known as a "Banana Clip" which carries 30 rounds - also carried "Jungle-Style," meaning two magazines, taped back to back so they can be switched out easily.
Clearly, it would be banned.
Does not matter - standard magazine for an M1 has 15 rounds - it would be considered an "assault weapon" under the current proposals that CS has been supporting.
BTW - it in fact IS a "Banana Clip" - they carry 30 rounds and are MOST DEFINITELY considered "high capacity"

BTW - I have one of these rifles. It was my father's and he gave it to me.
It is CURRENTLY legal, but would be considered illegal under DiFi's Senate proposal, which CS has been cheerleading.
I responded with a picture of Malcolm X as a joke. I was playing off the joke made about a survival kit.
Is this really going to turn in to a gun debate?
I think you are looking at two standard 15-round mags. The bottom of the mag that is actually inserted into the rifle appears to me to end about an inch or two under the trigger guard, which is exactly where the standard straight 15-round mags end.
But it's beside the point. As I mentioned, while hi-cap mags may be banned, the weapon itself is not/will not (at least under any current proposal that I am aware of).
I am looking at a PDF of Feinstein's bill right now which specifically excludes several models of the M1 carbine from the legislation so long as they do not have a folding stock, which are generally already illegal due to both state and federal restrictions on minimum rifle length.
You were joking about the rifle? You are really buying a rocket launcher? How about surface to air missiles in case we get bombed?
I have a standard issue M1 - the standard 15 round mag is straight, it has no curvature to it.
The reason the 30 round mag is known as a "banana clip" is due to the curve.
At the time the photo was take, they were legal...however, wrapping them "jungle-style" was not.
My point about the photo was that, AS SHOWN, that rifle would be illegal.
Yes! He does it again! He sums up someone's argument in the least charitable manner possible and then precede to joust at windmills and argue with straw men. The OP's point was OBVIOUS sarcasm that the "cuts" (i.e. reduction in spending increases) are not as catastrophic as the administration is making them out to be. The left has a vested interest in "proving" that spending cuts can't be done because spending is how they buy their votes from low information voters and weak minded people who are blindsided by leftist rhetoric. Therefore, they have been exaggerating their claims of potential fallout from the sequester THEY engineered for which, by the way, they already got their additional tax hikes.
The OP's point was clearly facetious. Are you really this thickheaded?
Cry Havoc; and let slip the dogs of war!
