Those numbers also NO LONGER count those who have left the workforce as a result of not being able to find work and having had their unemployment expired. That is the additional 8 MILLION that have left the workforce. Even given the normal attrition of jobs lost to retirement, the number is still OVER 7 million of those working age with the single largest losses found in the 25-48. If the workforce average number was identical to Bush's last month, the current unemployment rate would be 11.2%
You do realize that people tend to retire when they get older and leave the workforce, don't you? You do realize that our demographics are switching to an older constituency, don't you? You do realize that the government laid off (conveniently ignore by you) don't you?
"Private sector jobs: If looking at hiring by businesses, the gap is actually much wider -- the private sector has actually added 415,000 jobs since Obama took office. But it had cut 1.6 million jobs during a comparable period of Bush's first term. The difference is that budget-strapped state and local governments have slashed their staffs over the last four years while they were adding workers when Bush was in office."
Since the above article was written, even more jobs have been added. Stop being so conservative and start accepting facts.
As dense as I thought you were, I obviously underestimated. Most of that is not discretionary spending. We have an aging population. What about that did you not understand the first time I wrote that?
Here is a link from the Heritage Foundation, an ultra conservative group:
Notice, discretionary spending went DOWN in 2012. Notice, discretionary spending went up far less under Obama than under Bush (use either term). In fact, it has gone up less than it has under any President post WWII. The major cause of the rise in spending, the entitlements, is do to an aging society. Most of the rise in spending has been the stimulus. After the stimulus has been used up, spending is now going down. Even with the stimulus, the rise is less than in decades.
It goes to show that 53% of Americans do not know what a recession is. Probably a good part of them listen to Fox News. Notice something else, we are doing better than any other developed country in the world.
Exhibit A that you are a conservative. Math escapes you.
yeah, especially in the liberal world of educating our children....tops in the world! 50% of kids don't graduate high school in Los Angeles. Take that Finland and North Korea!
If you enjoy N. Korea so much, you are welcome to go there. Would you really want your children educated there? Adjusting for demographics, we do well education wise. The advantage that countries like Finland has is that they have a safety net. People are given time to work with their children. By the way, why do we produce more scientific breakthroughs than Finland? Again, why don't you educate your children in one of those countries?
becuase we have Barrack Obama! yeah, barrack! Liberalism rules!
Since you know facts, how many of those are full-time quality employment?
Ahhh yes. The hypocrisy that CS and I discussed in another thread a couple of days ago. When Perry was running, it was pointed out that his state had the most people working at minimum wage in the country. Conservatives pointed out that any job is better than no job. When liberals suggested raising minimum wage, conservatives pointed out how any job was better than no job. Now we get posts similar to yours pretty consistently, usually from conservatives.
I also find it funny how this thread is bouncing around. Conservative have tried one thing to blame Obama. When facts prove that thing wrong, they move to another. When facts prove that wrong, they move to another. On and on it goes.
If our economy had not been blown up, the world economy not been blown up, and conservatives decided that cutting jobs during a recession was a good idea, we would be doing better. However, that is life. As I wrote above, and the subject was changed when I pointed it out, we are doing better than any other developed country.
Getting back to your question, what is a "quality job"?

good to see our board child is still name calling and not able to back up anything. soo easy to see through....obama good, bush bad, oh and our troops, i bet he thinks they are only dying in toy story 10 the movie.
Unlike you, I backed up everything. Those red things are called links. How ironic that you make a post with no substance in it other than to insult me and you accuse me of name calling. How typical.
"Although he is a brilliant surgeon, he is an ass" said by more then a fan.......(Do you even know him?)
i think you just said this about someone.....not only do i accuse you of name calling, the proof in this post is minutes old....it is typical because it is all you do, it is all you have.
.....cheers and enjoy being a liberal, just be proud of it, don't hide as a moderate, come out of the closet

He did something he was expressly told not to do by the sponsors of the breakfast. He gave a political speech when he, as is everyone that speaks at that breakfast, was told not to. That makes him an ass. As far as "all I do," I state facts. He is an ass. He is what moderates hate about the GOP. He is the type of person that cost Republicans control of the Senate, the WH and the popular vote in House elections (gerrymandering kept them the majority seats despite getting significantly less votes for House seats).
By the way, why quote me? I did not claim that I didn't insult him. You cannot win an actual disagreement by using facts. So, you use facts to win a disagreement that does not exist? How conservative.
Employment that provides income one can live on with potential for advancement and benefits.
Oh, geez. This tired hoary cliche again. Are Veterans part of the 47% sucking off the government teat? What about our elderly who get SS checks? Grow up, man.
The 2012 Republican meme gets the Daily Show treatment.
“Close tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share,” Reagan vowed.
Dude, you are probably the most boorishly partisan poster on these boards. Those who inhabit glass houses...
