Are the lakers going to make a move?

  • We're getting to that part of the draft where moves are made.

How do you guys feel about Lamar in a Clipper uniform. It would make me nervous if I knew he was part of an already potent arsenal.

I believe Mitch got the memo that no one wants to play in LA... So why force people to act against their will?

Okay...that's one way of going about it. Kinda quitting like the team. Fans soon to follow?

Don't know where you got that. I respect the shit out of the laker organization. Well...the last two years not so much...but big ups to what they've done the last decade and a half.

Their fans?...not real knowledgeable. They tend to try and make crap convenient to suit their needs. Other than that?...they're alright.

like other teams don't have that type of fan...the sad thing from you though. You have consistancely target the Lakers fan, and only Lakers fan.

It's a laker board...who would I target (address)? Would it make sense if I addressed Rocket fans here?

Every team has that type of fan...but laker fans are above and beyond the call of duty.

I asked a simple question. Answer it or don't. I really don't give a f' if laker fans just pass on the subject. But Lamar as a Clipper has to sting at least a little.

  • Lakers tried to move into the 20's to get Sullinger or Jones. I wonder how dumb management feels for trading away a 1st round pick to dump Fishers salary.

They could have traded the rights to that pick for a 1st in this draft.

    you mad?

but to answer your question, good for LO and good for the Clippers. They were able to bring back LO and move MoW, and free up some cap room.

They didn't free up any cap space really. They are over the cap and will be there after the trade.

  • The Lakers not accomplishing anything via the draft cements their finish in the middle of the pack in the West next year. They won't accomplish anything of importance via free agency and will field a team very similar to what they had this year.

IMO, this was a really stupid handling of the draft by Laker management. Gasol isn't the key to the Lakers winning a championship and he's got about 2 years of potentially being good left. It was really dumb not to move him, especially if Atlanta was giving up Josh Smith for him. Age value alone on the Josh Smith trade makes it worth it.

I guarantee the Lakers will not win the Championship or the West this coming season, I'm willing to bet they won't make the finals either. Sticking with the current roster and expecting something different will cost us at least one season, and more likely, all the seasons that Kobe is still a player in the NBA.

Robert Sacre - 60th pick by the Lakers

Weaknesses: He often plays small, not using his size and strength advantages to bully opponents … Lacks length. Arms appear to be very short for his height ... Not a great leaper; doesn’t explode off the floor … Not a great rebounder for his size, only averaging around ~7 boards a game during his senior year (and that’s a career high) … Should consistently dominate the inferior big men he faces in the WCC, but often doesn’t … Doesn’t use his body to establish deep post position nearly enough … Struggles mightily when double teamed … He doesn’t dunk when he often should. This is due to a combination of keeping the ball low, hesitating, and pump faking too much … Can be inconsistent and disappear for stretches of the game if he’s not receiving touches in the post

IDK man, he sounds pretty bad. Only good thing is his free throws.

Strengths: Prototypical center size – a legitimate 7-footer with bulk … Very much an old-school center with a handful of back-to-the-basket post moves ... Has made himself into an outstanding FT shooter (~80% from the line) who is able to get himself to the line consistently. He might be the best FT shooter of any true post player alive … Smart defender and solid shot blocker, relying more on size and positioning than explosiveness when getting blocks … Shown improvement. He’s developed all aspects of his game substantially since arriving at Gonzaga … While not called on to do so often, he has shown an ability to hit a face-up jumper from the 12-15 foot range … Has good lateral quickness on D for a big man which shows in his ability to defend against screens …

This'll be good for when he gets his play time when the Lakers are up or down by 20 with 2 minutes left in the game...a valuable commodity with that pick...

The sad thing is the Lakers traded some cash back to Dallas to get the second round pick back that they traded for Lamar Odom. I think Dallas is a winner since they get their trade exception back and clear money if the Lamar Odom trade to the Clippers is completed with the Utah Jazz.

    Here is an article:

    http://www.latimes.com/sports/lakersnow/la-sp-ln-lakers-tried-to-trade-up-to-get-sullinger-or-jones-20120628,0,7425231.story

    Read this:

"They dangled Pau Gasol in an attempt to get into the draft's first few picks but came away empty. Then they tried to join the first round past its midpoint to grab Ohio State power forward Jared Sullinger but were deflated when Boston took him with No. 21.

They also had their eye on Baylor center Perry Jones III but couldn’t find a trading partner as his stock tumbled amid media reports of a knee problem. He eventually went 28th to Oklahoma City.

The Lakers haven't had a first-round pick since taking Javaris Crittenton in 2007. They traded this year’s first-rounder (24th overall) to Cleveland in March to acquire point guard Ramon Sessions, who became a free agent last week after declining to exercise a one-year, $4.55-million option to stay with the team next season.

Cleveland took Oregon State guard Jared Cunningham with the pick. The Lakers surely would have taken Jones if they still had the selection."

It wasn't possible to trade Pau straight up for Smith. ATL needed to include more players and likely wouldn't have done it.

It is hard to complain because this team has won championships recently, but you can make a very strong argument that the Lakers have been horribly mismanaged under Kupchak and Jim Buss.

It is like the Lakers won in-spite of their GM because they were lucky enough to have the best player in basketball and then given Pau. The Lakers would be in a far better position if they had the Spurs GM.

They have overpaid for FAs (Sasha, Fisher, Walton, Artest, Radman, Blake) and then had to trade away assets to get rid of their bad contracts. Even doing simple things like a straight up S&T of Artest for Ariza would have allowed the Lakers to use their MLE on another player. The Lakers should have been buying 1st round picks instead of selling them and it probably would have saved them more money in the end and extended Kobe's window to win.

It is like the end of the Shaq era, instead now there is no Kobe waiting in the wings to lead the team.

Right now the Lakers should be trying to trade Pau for Bargnani and Calderon. Toronto wants to go after Nash and I think having Pau would make them more attractive. Pau can also teach their young C some post moves. Bargnani is probably a better fit next to Bynum with his range and his poor rebounding numbers.
