Affordable care act

No, it means, unless repealed, that your bill will keep rising, then the whole system will implode as people stop buying insurance, enabled to buy upon demand as provided for with the PEC.

Judicial activism is any court decision with which conservatives do not agree.

Or, you could put on your intellectual cap, and start discussing things. Maybe respond to what I just said about how it was activism.

This. Thanks for posting that. I was planning to do so, later.

Also, the campaign can go ahead and harp on "If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan" claim. I know for a fact I won't be able to keep my plan. My monthly cost, until the whole system implodes will go up between $500 and $1,000 per month, and that does not even consider the higher taxes I will be paying through my business and in other places.

And once again, you post your ditto without considering how a post was already discredited.

He certainly does, but I have a feeling he'll make it work. :-)

    I'm looking forward to November.

  • The government can't manage Medicare. How the fuck ate they going to manage this handout? All congress has to is not fund it. I have been healthcare in healthcare for 40 years. If they think they are going to cut costs without hurting both patients and providers alike, they are in for a rude awakening. Have they even identified the recipients of this legislation yet? Anyone considering going into medicine better think twice.

  • The opinions, for those that want them

  • So the Supreme Court ruled that the Federal Government CAN NOT enforce the Individual Mandate under the Commerce Clause since the Federal Government CAN NOT force someone to engage in Commerce.

However, the Individual Mandate can be upheld as a Tax, yet it's a Tax for NOT engaging in Commerce.

Damned if I do. Damned if I don't.

  • Not sure how they could just basically rewrite the law from being a penalty to a tax. Those two are not at all the same thing. A speeding ticket is a penalty not a tax, right? Yet, the SCOTUS just changed a speeding ticket to a tax. Hmmmmm.

  • Justice John Roberts.

I still can't get my head around this.

And yet Rosebowl and Wake don't see how this is the epitome of Judicial Activism.

It is not Judicial Activism if it facilitates Liberal Policy, I guess, to use their thought processes.

People piss in the pool, when you're in it you feel alright, but when you get out you know it is gross and filled with piss.

Europe was wonderful, but since my return I've been far more invested in philosophy than politics so, besides the piss analogy, I haven't really been motivated to come around. I still read and learn a bit from time to time. Amstersdam and Barcelona were my two favorite cities, Paris had fine institutions but I found the soul of the city to be a bit bougy and out of reach for the budget traveler, Madrid was interesting, I've officially got the travel bug and South America is next. The hostel experience was simply incredible. I'm tempted to do it again in South America, but I have houses and apartments to stay in Buenos Aires, Santiago, and Rio through people I met and spent time with in Europe. I may go find a wife in Thailand with two great friends I met from Kiev, which would delay South America a bit, but who knows.

Your advice was well taken, thank you Rosebowl.

The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen - Dennis Prager

  • I am so damned confused. The radio news guy just said that the court "upheld the law that requires us to buy comprehensive medical policy by 2014 or face a financial PENALTY". Haven't they got the memo that SCOTUS just re-wrote the law changing "PENALTY" to "TAX". Man, the news needs to get with the times, and start recognizing that the Legislative Branch, the Executive Branch (see NLRB, EPA, and Justice Department policies over the past year), AND SCOTUS all are involved in law making.
