A drug question for the board

  • I obviously have a pretty good pharmacology background having spent most of life in healthcare. I do not claim to know it all with regards to many drugs out there. I snowbird in Las Vegas. About a week before I left there was a terrible crime committed less than a mile from my home. A little boy comes to school and reports that his mother and sister are dead. The police go to the residence and find both the mother and sister dead and the father in critical condition. It seems that an intruder took a claw hammer or crowbar to the two deceased. They had no suspect when I left. Mrs. Troybill happened to check the news in Las Vegas and told me they got the suspect. The father is still in critical condition from his beating. What was perplexing is that the suspect said he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. He had previously that day assaulted a woman nearby before killing the mother and child. My question is what the hell kind of drug when combined with alcohol would make somebody do crazy shit like this. I know the effects of mixing alcohol with various prescription drugs but I have never seen this particular "symptom" described. What say you guys?

I think I came to that conclusion but was more curious what drug might provide this catalyst.

Could be anything really. Any kind of psychotropic could be the tipping point. Anything from an anti-depressant (unlikely) to Meth or PCP, or something in between.

    I'm betting #1 Meth #2 PCP.

The meth addicts don't sleep for days, during which a psychosis develops.

Id normally agree with this...but I have to side with the meth/pcp crowd on this one. Ive been around my fair share and Ive never seen the anger/rage coupled with the ability to justify some outrageous/demented shit than I have from people on meth. and pcp is just another world. Id almost argue that one isnt really responsible for things done on the dust. you're so whacked out of your tree its silly.

For $20 you get Chachi, but $40 gets you Fonzie....

  • Serious Question: Do people still do PCP?

I've got plenty of friends in low places, but I've never heard anyone bring up PCP. Do people still do that stuff and is it easily available in the year 2012?

Funny, but I asked someone this same question earlier this week.

Apparently it's not as prevalent as back in the 70's/80's, but it's still available. It's just not on every street corner like it used to be.

  • For anyone that might know (obviously strictly from a scholastic point of view):

How is the high from PCH differnet from the high from meth?

Stopped doing drugs back in the late 70s, but dabbled a bit with PCP during that time. Definitely a hallucinogenic in its own right from the get go, But methamphetamine is just as it's labeled... A potent upper. Not sure if that's a hallucinogenic drug from the beginning, but I know the psychosis and hallucinations kicks in after being up a few days on the stuff.

I'd imagine it's similar to comparing LSD with speed, But someone who has tried meth would have to give you the blow-by-blow descriptions on That one.
