It's a VHS tape of the complete 1987 fUCLA vs. USC game at the Coliseum.

I would DESPERATELY like to digitize it and put it on DVD. If you have it, please PM me! I'll make it worth your while.

  • It wasn't me ...that was a good one though

Peete to Affholter for the comeback 17-13 win in the 4th !!!!After being down 13-0 ( remember Rondey Peete catching Henley at the end of the half as time ran out ,who took back an int 90 yards,at the USC 5 to end the half ? That TD saving tackle, saved the game right there). Check out #42 Affholter these days...Fight On !!!

    Peete to Affholter YEAHHHHHH !!!

USC back in the Rose Bowl ...that was just a great game and was for all the marbles that was a good win over one of the better UCLA teams I can recall ( Aikman- Carnell Lake- Ken Norton- Henley -Gaston Green Flipper Anderson..etc)..probably the BEST UCLA team in the last 40 years now that I think about it, Bruins ended up 10-2..lost to Nebraska by 10 at Neb and then us at the end of the year ..and crushed someone in their bowl game... ..that was a big one I recall..SC was back in the Rose after a couple years (1984 season) away .

That was the last game I went to at the Coliseum; it was also the last time I saw my then college girlfriend. We had to stand nearly the whole game, because we were in the 4th or 5th row on the 50-yard-line, right behind the Trojan bench. Standing was the only way to see the game over the players' heads.

I remember Rodney Peete catching Henley at the end of the first half to save a TD. I also remember him getting first down after first down in the 4th quarter with his feet. It was a sweet memory, and I would like to relive it again. I have the ESPN Classic edited version of the game, but I wanted the whole thing.

I've been to three road games since that day -- 1989 and the blood bath in 1991 at Memorial Stadium in Strawberry Canyon and then recently in 2010 in Minneapolis.

  • Why didn't you bid on it. Looks like $11 would have won it.

You know how to do this? I've been looking for someone to transfer some VHS tapes into dvd form for me.

I completely forgot about the auction, and by the time I did remember, it was already over. banghead

Since the auction ended with the winning bidder having bid on it twice, he definitely had a proxy bid on it that was higher than just the $14 shipped.

Yes. I ROUTINELY transfer VHS and LaserDisc to DVD. I do my very best to maximize the video bitrate. I can also transfer DD5.1 (in LaserDisc terms -- AC-3) and transfer a letterboxed 4:3 video into anamorphic 16:9 video. I've been doing this for years.

Feel free to ask IRONMIKE4SC and usctrojan1 about the work I do on my DVDs. peace

Thanks, man. I had no idea Costco did that kind of stuff. $18 isn't bad at all.

    Thanks again.

I moved away from L.A. in 1986. I went back every now and then while I was in Berkeley for graduate school. My parents still live there, and my family and I still visit them from time to time.
