    Probably,
I think 6-7 DT's have been offered making him a low priority. Did these others attend camps? I follow him and some other nor cal kids and with so many other reputable offers including my ducks, who don't toss offers around I just wondered if they simply don't think he's that good. Maybe more to the whole thing.

That's the case for a lot of guys, and I think even more so here as Vanderdoes plays against pretty horrible competition. Make no mistake, he looks absolutely dominant on film but I can't blame the coaches for doing due diligence to see if he can replicate that against quality opponents.

coaches dont rely on the rankings of recruiting services to place offers. That's the lazy B.S only accepted at programs like UGLA (see JR Tavai VS Jalen Grimble)

That film shows obvious huge speed for a 290 Lb kid and brute strength. 4.90 is 4.90 no matter who your playing and for a kid to move like that with that size seems to be such an easy kid to mold. Is there bad blood with the armsteads and USC because EV is always mentioned along side Arik. Maybe that's an issue??? Again, maybe he just doesn't fit. I just find it odd. Thanks for the takes!

What proof do you have of 4.9 speed? I highly doubt he can even break 5.0.

And as for his 'brute strength' ... are you only coming to that conclusion based on the way he handles the obviously subpar competition?

Wow, easy pumpkin I thought I was just asking questions about a recruit. I figured this was a message board to discuss these things. Now I get the environment here and I was just asking about one of the kids from nor cal that we (del oro) get to see and coach against.

I bet the Arik's reference got people excited.

However, as far as Vanderdoes, perhaps, as Felix indicated, our coaches want to see him in person going against elite opposition.

As far as his ranking on all three recruiting services, Like NE Means indicated, our coaches wouldn't even be thinking of attributing any factual weight to that information.

So, at the end, if you look at the top DT avaliable in 2013, we (SC) offered two players RANKED below Venderdoes, indicating, again, that our coaches are not ready, as yet, to make a move on this kid.

I'll guarantee you this, if Coach Orgeron was convinced of this guy's potentials, without even evaluating him in camp, he would have an offer.

Thanks for the civil point given. Really all I was asking for was what you gave; a USC take regarding a recruit that wasn't negative

  • He absolutely looks dominant, but like others have said, the competition looks suspect. I don't have a problem with the staff if they want to see him up close before offering. With the restrictions, it would be crazy to judge someone solely by someone else's opinion, and tape against unknown opponents.

I have all the faith in the world in coach Orgeron's and Kiffin's ability to identify players that will excel at USC. If they deem him worthy, and he wants to develop into the best player he can be, while getting an excellent education, he will be a Trojan.

You screwed up the list by not meeting my criteria.

    Here are Vanderhoes rankings
    Sc-15, Ri-21, 247-43

TJ Bryant, ranked 59 on scout 82 on Rivals
Dillon Baxter, ranked 117 on ESPN
Coleman, ranked 75 on Rivals, 68 on ESPN
Ausberry, ranked 66 on Rivals. And he's on an NFL roster
Corp will be drafted this year.

I'll give you Whitney Lewis, one of the biggest busts of all time.

My point is very few players who ALL sites agree will be good don't turn out good. And it's correct. Why the need to argue what's mathematically correct?
