So how'd that all work out?
Besides Jackson at Tennessee, none of them did squat.
Henderson & Ayles to Miami make me laugh. "Poetic justice."

Fangupo was actually healthy and turned in a very good year as a full time starter for BYU. I think he was picked up by the Texans and was expected to make the team since Houston has a big big need for NT depth. But...he got hurt again during a practice.

I stand corrected. Loni did well at BYU and it was a good move for him. Thanks for correcting me.
To the other poster; I wasn't referring to sanctions with Miami. You know as well as I, Miami has skated ... so far.
IMO, we're much better off without both Henderson and Ayles. Ayles did nada here or there ... and SH is in the doghouse again. We'll see if he can turn it around. I have my doubts
I was sorry to see DJ bail and it clearly didn't work out for him. Too bad. He's a good kid and he wasn't being utilized properly here ... but WTF happened with him back east? I expected more from him back there.

I've always said that Seantrel probably would have fared a lot better from a discipline standpoint if he were here under this staff's discipline rather than floating around in the abyss in Miami.
From what I've heard, not a bad kid by nature but one that is stuck with a leach for a father. Put those guys in the right environment and they can flourish; leave them twisting in the wind, and we've seen what can happen.
I trust our staff to have kept him on the right path had he come here.

I don't necessarily disagree, but it's 100% supposition.
The way he and his Dad played his recruitment left a bad taste in my mouth.
He should never have committed to USC until after sanctions were announced, if they would cause him to bail.
Poor judgement.

In regards to whether we should or shouldn't?
I said the second the NCAA ruling broke I hoped CLK put the full court press on Redd, and it looks like my wish may soon become reality
Honestly, I have no issue with it in the slightest. For three years we've complained about how the system screwed us, how nobody cared when we got the hammer from the NCAA, how nobody gave a damn when our roster was raided, how the rest of the conference didn't get our back. Well, the way you fight back when the system works against you and you're left to your own devices is by using every advantage you can get.
In this case, it means pouncing on a miracle opportunity to add a big time player at our biggest need position at the exact right time before making a title run. If people jump on us for doing it, who cares; everyone else, as erroneous as it all is, already sees CLK as a scumbag and USC as the dirtiest program in the sport. We can either sit there meekly and try to change everyone's perception when it'll never work, or we worry about what's best for our program and go get another stud tailback to add to the rotation. I'd love nothing more than to see us stick it to the NCAA by winning a national title in Miami, with Silas Redd scoring a TD in the process.
I know there are folks on here who would want Silas to stay there the way we hoped our guys wouldn't jump ship when the sanctions hit us, but my concern is USC and Silas is a good kid who makes us a better football team. Case closed. Doesn't make any sense for us not to pursue any avenue to make our team better, just as I didn't fault any other school for chasing our players when we got hit; what school wouldn't, given the opportunity, want to have a Matt Barkley on their roster?
So that's where I'm at; where do you stand?

Has Miami been sanctioned yet? I can't remember. Otherwise, Henderson probably can't complain - started 9 games as a true Freshman (1st-team Freshman All-American), 2 games before being injured last year and will start this year.

He was never a D1 quality tailback IMO It just took him going to UConn to find this out A lot of people took his move ti FB as a depth at FB issue I think it was more of a last resort move PC rsalized DJ was not a tailback and did not have WR skills DJ is a perfect example of a kid who matured early and than got overtaken as other kids reached their potentia Remember he was offered as a tenth grader
DJ is a great person though. He, along with Matt Meyer have everything you need to be successful without football I personally believe he should have done an ROTC program, because he could have had a sky is the limit military career Or he should have played at Army or Navy

I agree to a point with much of what you've stated; the wasn't very many, if any programs that didn't relish in the fact that the NCAA had just Belly-To-Back Suplexed the SC football program; in fact, they were more than willing to approach our student-athletes to fill holes within their programs where they saw fit. And yes, our conference definitely seem to bask in the then perceived glory of SC's demise, scuffing at any attempts to support us.
There have been many stories concerning how the contact of interest between the two parties, Redd and the SC staff connected, and it would stand to reason that many would like to disparage the USC program, even to the point of fabrication! I would hope that any contact of interest between Silas Redd and the SC staff wasn't until after Redd first expressed to them his interest in being a Trojan. I believe that from the moment they've had the sanctions placed on them, the staff has handled it with the utmost grace and professionalism...I believe it to be the sole reason that has infuriated the powers that be, the talkin heads, and all the haters alike, the most! Likewise, it is this way of going about things which is refreshing and so appealing...that I don't think should be or needs to be compromised for the pursuit of a title, much less a lack of depth at a position.
However, it would seem karmic of sorts for things to pan out under the lines you've drawn, especially with Redd scoring the winning TD for the title (gotta admit I gave off a good laugh while reading it). And if Silas truly wants to be a Trojan and contacted the staff expressing his intentions, then I'm more than happy to support him and cheer him on in the C&G this season...I believe in this team and the character they've exhibited in the face of adversity; I just hope that if Silas decides to leave...he is fully aware that what he is leaving from is the chrysalis that veiled the beauty and true magnificence of this current Trojan roster. And that this current Trojan staff hasn't lost sight of the core principles and values it has navigated through the face of this adversity in the process.
Well there it is...my stance, if you will. I thank you kindly for sharing your perspective, and as always, I look forward to the insight you offer the board.
Fight On Felix!
