  • Is he a senior because if so that would be awesome. Adds depth and experience plus wouldn't have to get rid of anybody next year to make room.

    Yup, true junior.

Does anyone have any clarification on how Penn State transfers will affect the other teams' scholarship total? Have seen lots of rumor and innuendo that they won't count against teams' scholarship totals, but nothing definitive.

I read that they won't count against the total scholarship number the 1st year, but would count against it in future years. So, with Redd being a junior, he wouldnt count against the number this season, but would count against the total number in 2013.

    That would be Norwalk, CT.

He got a lot of mentions locally in Connecticut when he was a junior and senior, don't know about the national attention he got though. A lot of guys I worked with talked about him being on a totally different level than most of the high school players in Connecticut.

I saw something earlier that said if a school wanted to give up a ride for the next year they can take a psu athlete. Not sure if this is true

  • Said this in the other thread on him, but since this one is more active:

On top of being a great talent, he's one of the best representatives of a university you could imagine. I hope he stays at PSU, but if not, you'll be getting a great one. He's a top notch kid on and off the field.

Can you leave one team with sanctions for another?

  • This is the exact quote from the NCAA:

Additionally, the NCAA is considering waiving scholarship limits for programs to which these football student-athletes transfer, provided they reduce proportionately in the next year. For example, the limit is 25 new scholarships per year to a total of 85 scholarships. If the limits are waived in 2012-13 to accommodate one Penn State student-athlete who wishes to transfer to a particular school already at the limits, in 2013-14 the school will be limited to 24 new scholarships and 84 total scholarships.

IF USC plays at 76 this year, next year they play at 74.

If Redd comes, USC will only be able to bring in a class of 17.

This isn't clear yet, but the NCAA would actually be hurting PSU players a 2nd time if they denied them the opportunity to transfer to a school they felt was the best overall fit for them.

Besides, under normal circumstances, USC/OSU/UNC are able to accept transfers despite being on probation. Why not now?

Or sign 18 and be at 76 and just sign 14 next year
