    ROSS CUMMING
    Special Teams/Linebackers

                Ross Cumming, a standout special teams performer the past 4 years at USC, joined the Trojan coaching staff in August of 2012 as a graduate assistant working with the special teams and linebackers.
                Originally a walk-on who earned a scholarship in 2010, the 25-year-old Cumming was a 4-year (2008-11) letterman at USC.  He was a reserve linebacker and special teams player who as a 2011 senior also served as the backup fullback and worked some at tight end.  He had 35 career tackles while appearing in 47 games.  He had 3 tackles as a first-year freshman in 2008, then added 9 stops in 2009 and 8 in 2010.  He made 15 tackles, blocked a punt (at Oregon) and caught 2 passes for 16 yards (8.0 avg.) in 2011 while winning USC’s Special Teams Player of the Year Award.
            He spent 2006 and 2007 at the Naval Academy Prep School, but did not play football because of an injury.
            He was a tight end and linebacker at Santa Margarita High in Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.), where he made All-Serra League as a 2004 junior.
            He earned his bachelor’s degree in public policy, management and planning at USC in 2012.  He is working on his master’s degree in communication management at USC.
            Born Sept. 28, 1987, he is single.

    MARK WATSON
    Secondary

                Mark Watson, an assistant coach at Drake the past 2 seasons, joined the Trojan coaching staff in August of 2012 as a graduate assistant working with the secondary.
                Watson, 25, coached the cornerbacks at Drake in 2010 and 2011.  Drake, a member of the NCAA FCS, led the Pioneer Football League in pass interceptions both seasons.  In 2011, the Bulldogs won the PFL championship while finishing seventh in the NCAA FCS in scoring defense and 10th in total defense.
                He spent 3 years (2008-10) as a position coordinator at the Elite Football Academy in St. Louis, Mo.
                He played cornerback and safety in college, beginning his career at NCAA Division II Missouri Southern State in 2006 (getting 14 tackles, 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery, 3 deflections and 6 kickoff returns) and 2007 (with 4 tackles) before transferring to the NAIA’s McPherson College, where he started in 2008 and 2009 (he was a captain as a senior).
                He starred in football (he was an all-league quarterback), basketball, baseball (he was on the 2003 Missouri Class 4A state titlist) and track (he was ran on the school record-setting 400-meter relay team) at Francis Howell High in St. Charles, Mo.
                He earned his bachelor’s degree in business management and marketing at McPherson in 2010.  He is working on a master’s degree in communication management at USC.
                Born March 6, 1987, he is single.

    BERNSTEIN:
            HIGH SCHOOL: He had 26 tackles with 3 sacks as a 2011 senior defensive lineman at Canyon High in Santa Clarita (Calif.).  He also was a discus thrower and shot putter on Canyon’s track team.

    COLEMAN
            JUNIOR COLLEGE: He earned 2010 All-Southern California Football Association American Division Mountain Conference first team honors as a sophomore linebacker at East Los Angeles (Calif.) Junior College.  He had 47 tackles, including 5.5 for losses (with 3 sacks), and 1 interception in 2010.
            HIGH SCHOOL: He earned 2008 AP All-Central District Division III second team honors as a senior linebacker at Bexley (Ohio) High.  He also played basketball at Bexley, making the All-Central District Division II second team in 2009 and honorable mention in 2008.

    COTTRELL:
            HIGH SCHOOL: He made 2011 All-CIF Southern Division first team, All-Pacific Coast League first team and Orange Coast Daily Pilot Newport-Mesa Dream Team as a 2011 senior defensive back, wide receiver and kick returner at Corona del Mar (Calif.) High.  He had 41 tackles and 1 interception on defense in 2011 and 14 receptions for 305 yards (21.8 avg.) on offense, plus 11 kickoff returns for 422 yards (35.7 avg.) with 2 TDs and 33 punt returns for 422 yards (12.8 avg.) with 2 TDs.  As a 2010 junior, he had 43 tackles, 3 interceptions, 21 deflections, 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery on defense and 5 receptions for 49 yards (9.8 avg.) with 4 TDs on offense, plus 26 punt returns for 322 yards (12.8 avg.) and 17 kickoff returns for 420 yards (24.7 avg.).  He also ran track at Corona del Mar.

    DILLARD
            HIGH SCHOOL: He was a cornerback on a Buford (Ga.) High team that won the state championship in 2009 and 2010 and was the state runnerup as a 2011 senior.  He also played saxophone in the Buford school orchestra.
             PERSONAL: His cousin is Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who played at Georgia Tech.

    DOOLEY:
            HIGH SCHOOL: He had 69 tackles, including 1.5 sacks, 9 deflections and 2 forced fumbles as a 2011 safety at Loyola Academy in Chicago (Ill.).  Loyola went 13-1 and played in the state Class 8A championship game in 2011.  As a 2010 junior, he had 68 tackles, 1 interception, 2 deflections and 1 forced fumble.  He also played lacrosse at Loyola.
             PERSONAL: His father, Robert, played football at Yale, while his sister, Grace, is a junior on Notre Dame’s lacrosse team.

    KATRIB
            HIGH SCHOOL: He made 2011 All-CIF Southeast Division first team, San Gabriel Valley Tribune All-San Gabriel Valley first team and All-Hacienda League first team as a senior wide receiver and defensive back at Diamond Bar (Calif.) High.  He had 58 receptions for 931 yards (16.1 avg.) with 11 TDs and 81 yards on 14 carries (5.8 avg.) on offense in 2011 and 93 tackles, with 3 sacks, 4 deflections, 1 fumble recovery and 2 forced fumbles on defense, plus 11 punt returns for 146 yards (13.3 avg.) and 9 kickoff returns for 221 yards (24.6 avg.).  As a 2010 junior he had 63 receptions for 984 yards (15.6 avg.) with 11 TDs on offense and 67 tackles, 5 interceptions, 4 deflections, 1 fumble recovery and 2 forced fumbles on defense, plus 6 punt returns for 59 yards (9.8 avg.) and 19 kickoff returns for 477 yards (25.1 avg.).

    KERR:
             NEBRASKA: He was a tight end at Nebraska in 2009 (he redshirted as a true freshman) and 2010 (he did not see any action as a redshirt freshman while slowed by injuries).
            HIGH SCHOOL: He had 21 receptions for 294 yards (14.0 avg.) with 3 TDs as a 2008 senior tight end at Scripps Ranch High in San Diego (Calif.) despite being slowed by injuries.  He spent his 2007 junior season at Fallbrook (Calif.) High, where he had 12 receptions for 146 yards (12.2 avg.) with 1 TD and made the San Diego Union-Tribune All-Academic team.

    MILLER
            HIGH SCHOOL: He made All-District 7-5A first team and State All-Academic 5-A first team as a senior defensive lineman and linebacker at Carroll High in Southlake (Tex.).  He had 82 tackles, with 11 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery in 2011.  Carroll won the 2011 state 5A Division I championship.

    MOJICA
            SMU: After walking on at SMU in 2008, he earned a scholarship as a redshirt freshman cornerback in 2009 and played in the final 9 games in extra defensive back formations and on special teams, recording 7 tackles and 2 interceptions.  He played in all 14 games as a 2010 sophomore, making 7 tackles.  He also did some kicking off.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in business and English from SMU in May of 2012 and is currently working on his MBA at USC.
            HIGH SCHOOL: He made 2007 All-CIF Pac-5 Division, All-County and All-Trinity League as a senior running back and safety at Mater Dei High in Santa Ana (Calif.).  He ran for 447 yards on 68 carries (6.6 avg.) with 6 TDs and 15 receptions for 184 yards (12.3 avg.) on offense in 2007 and 60 tackles, including 5 sacks, 2 interceptions, 5 deflections and 2 fumble recoveries on defense.  As a 2006 junior, he had 277 yards on 49 carries (5.7 avg.) with 6 TDs and made 20 tackles.  He also played soccer (making All-CIF, All-County and All-Trinity League), baseball (centerfield) and track (sprints) at Mater Dei.  He was Mater Dei’s 2007-08 Male Athlete of the Year.

    REDD
            CAREER :  He ran for 1,678 yards on 321 carries (5.2 avg.) with 9 TDs in his 2-year Penn State career, and added 13 receptions for 67 yards (5.2 avg.).  He had 7 100-yard rushing games at Penn State.
            2011 :  Redd earned 2011 All-Big Ten second team and Walter Camp Connecticut Player of the Year honors as a sophomore tailback at Penn State.  Overall in 2011 while appearing in all 13 games (starting 11), he ran for 1,241 yards (10th most in a season in Penn State history) on 244 carries (5.1 avg.) with 7 TDs, plus caught 9 passes for 40 yards (4.4 avg.) and had 1 tackle.  He had 6 100-yard rushing games, with the last 5 coming consecutively (104 yards with 2 TDs on 12 carries against Indiana State, 129 yards on 29 carries at Indiana, 142 yards on 28 carries versus Iowa, 131 yards with 1 TD on 28 carries against Purdue, a career-high 164 yards with 1 TD on 18 carries at Northwestern and 137 yards with 1 TD on 30 carries versus Illinois).  He was the first Nittany Lion with at least 5 consecutive 100-yard rushing games since Curtis Enis had 8 in a row in 1997.  An injury to his collarbone and sternum slowed him during the final 3 games of the regular season.
            2010 :  Redd, who enrolled at Penn State in January of 2010 after graduating a semester early from high school, ran for 437 yards (second on the team) on 77 carries (5.7 avg) with 2 TDs, plus had 4 receptions for 27 yards (6.8 avg.) and 7 kickoff returns for 147 yards (21.0 avg.), while appearing in 12 games as a first-year freshman backup tailback in 2010.  He had 131 yards on 11 carries with a TD versus Northwestern.
            HIGH SCHOOL:  He was a 2009 U.S. Army All-American and Rivals.com Connecticut Player of the Year as a senior running back at King Low Heywood Thomas School in Stamford (Ct.).  As a senior in 2009, he ran for 1,924 yards on 137 carries (14.0 avg.) with 25 TDs on offense and 47 tackles and an interception on defense.  He had 1,346 yards on 120 carries (11.3 avg.) with 15 TDs as a 2008 junior, along with 2 interceptions.  He also played basketball and lacrosse in high school.

    SCHLOSSBERG
            HIGH SCHOOL: He made 2011 All-Coastal League as a senior linebacker and tight end at La Jolla (Calif.) Country Day School.   He had 114 tackles, 1 interception, 2 fumble recoveries, 2 forced fumbles and 1 blocked field goal on defense in 2011 and 20 receptions for 256 yards (12.8 avg.) with 1 TD on offense.  He also played basketball (averaging 6.1 points and 3.5 rebounds on the 2012 CIF San Diego Division IV champion) and lacrosse at La Jolla Country Day.

    STEEN
            HIGH SCHOOL: He made 2011 All-CIF Southern Division first team and Irvine World News All-City first team as a 2011 senior safety and wide receiver at Beckman High in Irvine (Calif.).  He had 74 tackles, 3 interceptions, 5 deflections and 2 forced fumbles on defense in 2011 and 21 receptions for 377 yards (18.0 avg.) with 4 TDs on offense, plus 5 punt returns for 97 yards (19.4 avg.) and 4 kickoff returns for 92 yards (23.0 avg.).  As a 2010 junior, he had 63 tackles, 4 interceptions, 2 deflections, 3 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.  As a 2009 sophomore, he had 22 tackles, 1 interception, 1 deflection and 1 fumble recovery.

    C. TOBER
            HIGH SCHOOL: He was a 2011 Cal-Hi Sports All-State second team, All-CIF Pac-5 Division first team, Orange Country Register All-Orange County first team, All-South Coast League first team and Special Teams Player of the Year as a 2011 senior wide receiver and cornerback at San Clemente (Calif.) High.  He had 23 receptions for 612 yards (26.6 avg.) and 5 TDs on offense in 2011 and 51 tackles, 6 deflections, 4 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and 3 blocked field goals on defense.  San Clemente was the 2011 CIF Pac-5 finalist.  As a 2010 junior, he made Orange Country Register All-Orange County third team and All-South Coast League first team while getting 59 tackles, 8 deflections, 2 interceptions (1 for a TD), 3 blocked PAT and 1 blocked field goal, plus 9 punt returns for 153 yards (17.0 avg.).
             PERSONAL: His brother, William, is a walk-on junior cornerback at USC.

    WOOD
            HIGH SCHOOL: He made 2011 All-King County 3A/2A League second team as a senior placekicker and punter at Mercer Island (Wash.) High.  He hit 9-of-11 field goals (with a long of 51 yards) and 23-of-26 PATs, had touchbacks on 50 of his 71 kickoffs and averaged 36.2 yards per punt (with a long of 59 yards) in 2011.  As a 2010 junior, he made All-League honorable mention and had 24 touchbacks on 42 kickoffs.  He also played soccer at Mercer Island, earning 2012 All-State Class3A second team honors.

    As of right now, Max.
    He'd be solid if he was the starting QB this year.
    1 more year learning from Barkley, he shoud be MORE then ready in 2013 as he'll be throwing to 2014 NFL draft #1 pick Marquise Lee.

    I'm confused. I thought a team could only have two GA's. Our GA's listed in the media guide are Justin Mesa and Shawn Howe.
    How is it that we can add on 2 more GA's?

    it seems like there are lots of different opinions. but nobody knows for sure because only kiffin knows the answer and he hasn't told anyone the answer as far as i know
