    Thing I remember about that game was that as my friend and I were getting ready to park, I remembered I had forgotten the tickets

    I made it from Vermont and Exposition to West Covina and back in about Thirty Five minutes and got to our seats right at kickoff

    Maybe this should be the classic game thread-all the way up to last season ( Oregon of course..right up there with the greatest SC games in my life..and there have been some great ones..)
    Well I had never seen that 1969 game footage
    3 years before I was screaming and whining on the planet. I had never seen that but I had read about it as a kid in this book( Best Little Rivalry...see below )that went year by year over the USC/UCLA games and the history and all of that. Very good book I recall. It had newspaper clippings -pictures-interviews-.all the stats and breakdowns of each game and what was riding on the game all the way back to the first SC vs UCLA game..etc..etc etc ..

    It was always crazy to me that so many games I had read about and were classics were never covered much or footage seen, from TV highlights one always got a heavy dose of OJ..AD vs ND..Achica's block vs UCLA...some other stuff ....but not much else. Great that one can find this stuff nowdays. The INTERNETS are sure pretty cool for long time SC fans.

    Anyways..classic game thread !!!

    I'm going to throw up the first Rose Bowl I went to ( Dad and I ..with my Grandfathers tickets) ...Charlie White behind Anthony Munoz and that big drive to just wear down tOSU at the end and go 80 yards..Paul Mc Donald..Ronnie Lott Chip Banks Dennis Smith Brad Buddie Kevin Bug Williams Dennis Edwards Eric Scroggins Riki( Gray) Ellison George Achica Dennis Smith Joey Browner Jeff Fisher Herb Ward..Marcus Allen ( had some big gains and a great game in Charlies Shadow) ...Vic Rakshani ...Kieth Van Horne...Ray Butler..on and on and on
    just a bunch of bad asses on that team, my superheroes as a kid actually.

    Now that tOSU team was very good too. Had us down 6 or something at the 3rd quarter . And SC had stopped them a few times on the goal line. 2 times I recall. Goalline stands. SC just came on strong just in classic form just wore them down. Charlie White set a Rose Bowl rushing record...and getting most of the 80 yards they needed to get the lead. Just a time consuming dominant drive 9 yards-5-yards-6 yards-..Munoz just blasting his guy 10 yards downfield.

    Oh here's little snotnosed me and #42 Ronnie Lott back in the day ( sorry about the glare..I bootlegged that pic for ya) . Hahhah !!! Good time to be a kid.

    Charlie was so badass..broke his nose pretty good that game..no problem..blood on his jersey..still torpedoed that OSU D on the goalline and just ran like a beast that drive!
    Listen to Charlie #12 at the very end tell why he ran off the field so fast ...classic stuff !!!!

    OK my mom went to this 1963 Rose Bowl as I remember her telling me.She did not forget her ticket ina stoner haze like Blem did ( gotta bust Blems balls)....as far as I know...I guess she was attending grad school at SC at the time . My father graduated the summer before in 1962. I recall her telling me all of this about the 1963 RB game ( I actually have her old ticket stub somewhere ) long ago. She did tell me it was an amazing game. Everyone thought SC had it in the bag in the early 4th and then Wisky came back and SC was in celebration/dormant mode but hung on to win.

    I guess Wisconsin came back from a pretty big margin and their QB Vanderkellen or whatever was actually named co-MVP and set all kinds of passing records in a losing effort ( that my old sports buddy as a youth Oregon QB Dan ONeill finally broke in 96) and took SC to the wire.

    Pete Bethard was the QB and SC's MVP and it was John McKays first NC. I guess Marv Marinovich who was USC's Captain was thrown out of this game for socking a dude early in the game. Well I haven't seen it ..so I'll be watching the 1963 Rose Bowl for the first time too

    *edit..I watched the youtube and from the footage this game looks like it was everything it was built up to be and I had heard/read about...great to see this stuff !!!

    I was at that game, too. My father and I were in the same endzone where Charles White scored the game-tying TD.
