The Mamba will announce final decision on signing day (Feb. 2)

  • DeAnthony Thomas just told me he will announce his final decision on a school at 5 p.m. PST at L.A. Live's ESPN Zone.

    "Tell everyone to come out for the announcement," said Thomas.

  • well either this will be great news and the board will explode with joy, or as oshea told me on gmail this will cause one of the top 5 greatest board meltdowns in usc history up there with the sanctions, rose bowl game, desean jackson, and teo. Ill wait for him to put those in order but this is already passing teo and jackson.

  • FYI, LA Live is where ESPNU airs their commitments, if Mamba was coming to USC, he wouldn't be announcing in this fashion IMO.

    i am not sure how bad the meltdown will be here (can't speak for other sites). One I think we are going to have a fair share of good news on signing day (call me the optimist) and two, I have already resigned myself to the fact he is gone, my period is over and time to move on.

    Wow if he is telling everyone to come out to LA Live for his announcement, and then chooses Oregon in front of all the USC fans he told to come, that would be seriously messed up. Committing to Oregon is one thing (I would never fault a kid for choosing another school), but if he does it in this fashion, that would be low.

    that reminds me of cleveland fans that thought lebron for sure was staying bc there is no way he was going to break their hearts on national tv. you are giving these athletes way too much credit. they have been pampered and told they are great from the time they have been in little league. they think the world revolves around them.

    But Thomas specifically told Scott to tell everyone to come out to the announcement. Would he really tell USC fans to come out just to announce that he isn't going to the school they support? (serious question, I don't know the character of Thomas).

  • I Prefice this post with the fact I do not know sh@t about what is going, like most people here. However in reading this board and being current on the recruiting process I will say this: Thomas has been on the sidelines of this process for a few months and he has seen the attention given to these other recruited who are undecided. I personally believe he wants his 15 min of fame and be able to announce his college in front of a TV and an audience, like most top recruited do. In the end he will be a Trojan. I end this post like I started, by saying I do not know sh@t. Only what 35 years of what studying human behavior has taught me.

    That may be true, but if that is the case I dont want him. I actually dont care if the recruit has been arrested, sold drugs, went bone to bone with his high school teachers, has 4 different kids from 4 different mothers, etc but i do have a problem with someone at 18 already wanting attention. That is a major problem. Those guys never work out because they arent team first guys. i dont want choir boys but i want all my foobtall players to be guys who are willing to put themselves second to the best interest of the team. just my two cents.

  • This is turning out like another Mesean Jackson deal. The Zeros will never win a national championship. They will be good. It would tear me up to see the Zeros get this guy. If we don't get him it is the way it should be. We will need to move on.
