Thank You from PSU

  • As you can imagine this has been an extremely trying time to be a Penn State fan. Many of us have adopted an "us against the world" mentality. We have received support from other fanbases that are able to see through the situation and sensationalism and know that behind it nearly 500,000 more people have been made to suffer. No fanbase as a whole has been more supportive and inspiring as yours. And from Nittany Nation, I just wanted to say thank you. It helps for us to look at you and your triumphant return to the top echelon of CFB. It gives us hope. Fight on! For all of us in State College.

  • It is a tough time for your fan base and I feel for each and every one of you who is going through this. Penn State will return to the upper level of programs in the country but it is going to suffer for many years now. I hope your fan base continues to support your team regardless of what happens on the football field the next couple years. Support the players that decide to stay with the program as well as the coaches who have to go through this tough battle. FIGHT ON!

  • Good luck and stay strong...you can't change the perception out there in any way - but to distance yourselves from those that committed the heinous crimes, and show the country the real Penn State.

While the young victims are by far our major concern and THE primary focus, I feel for all you who are innocent and reeling from the shock of the horrid deeds, and the attempt to dismantle your program by the corrupt, power hungry whores in the NCAA.

Believe me when we say that we feel your pain. The people being punished now are not the ones who committed the crime. USC has had to endure not only the penalties but the misinformation from ignorant sports writers, sportscasters and fans from other schools who claim that "USC paid Bush" - which we all know was nonsense. Hopefully people will judge the present group of Nittany Lions in a fair and just manner.

  • And I think Bill O'Brien will turn out to be a great hire. He's got that type of fire that you need to get people motivated.

    Well said!
When sanctions come down on your school (or your fave CFB team), there is a shared sense of pain. I felt the pain when SC was punished and anger at the NCAA and those that did the "crime" that got us in trouble.
Just stick by your school and truly support those kids that choose to stay and ride out the rough times. Those are the kids that embody everything that is good about your school and CFB.

but rest assured, you will seldom get any sympathy from others. Be prepared to be labeled as a bunch of whiners, crybabies, cheaters, etc., when trying to set the record straight, as we have been. The one thing that has to be done is accept that some seriously wrong sh#t took place, then collectively move along and put it behind you. It will probably take a while, though. We still have many SC fans who still believe that Reggie did nothing. twocents

    Nice post, Animal.

This sucks for the current roster and the fans.

The NZAA should have let the courts do their thing first.

Those headline-grabbing dingleberries in Indianapolis didn't even conduct an investigation of their own, they just piled-on.

    This!

Nice way to stick it to the University for conducting a tough investigation on themselves. The players, students, and overwhelming majority of the university people had no part in the horrible acts, but they are going to be paying the price for years. The horrible actions of the perp and the coaches did not result in unfair advantage for the performance of the team. The NCAA's actions should have been restricted to vacating the wins applicable to JoePa, but not the team/players. Law enforcement, the courts, and lawsuits would have been the most appropriate form of justice outside that.

  • Animal, my condolences.
It was tough when I heard about our sanctions, and most Trojans felt the same way you do now. The "us against the world" thing is not surprising in the least, and expected. The team and the fans will need it to keep them fired-up.
In the end, however, you'll need to accept the penalties and move on. Fighting within the institution, or trying to fight the NCAA in court is a losing battle. Any internal arguing at this point just serves to keep the anger focused in the wrong direction, and looks like sour grapes to the rest of the country.
Hit them where it hurts the most - on the playing field and on the recruiting trail.

I am with Hektor here, they didn't even let the courts handle the criminal matter first, they just took a shot at them.

There is a silver lining to that though, better the NCAA did that sooner than later, because if they levied those same penalties a year from now PSU would be dealing with five years of crap as opposed to four. SC had to deal with not only the five years of snactions, but the four years of investigating and bullshit leading up to them.

    100% True,
You can be happy you weren't hanging in limbo for 5 years like we were. Many people forgot all about the Yahoo story on Reggie once the ruling was handed down for us.

  • Thanks for all the USC posters who have come over to our board to wish us well and share your condolences with us for our insane sanctions.

Regardless of where Silas Redd ends up, I'm rooting for you guys to win the NC this year because I'm tired of hearing about the SEC being so high and mighty. Granted, you guys will probably play an SEC team in the NC game should you make it there but I like your chances.
