Talk of Chip going to the NFL heating up

  • He is going to the Eagles. Called it in August, still standing by it. Chip Kelly will be the head coach of the Eagles in 2013.

I also have Eagles as the preferred choice.

If there is one offensive cast unit that can pull off his scheme... it is the Eagles with Vick/Maclin/McCoy/ MeSean.

  • Don't care where he goes as long he leaves.

  • Chip hates recruiting and is known to not be fond of dealing with parents and boosters.

In other words...he hates half of his job description. How long would YOU stay at a job like that if you had options to do what you love 100% of the time.

I think he'll do well in the NFL when - and not IF - he goes.

Carolina with Cam also has to be an attractive option if the timing was right. They're in line for a high draft choice and Cam is familiar and experienced in his type of offense.

  • This type of thread was frequent and popular on Bruin boards when Carroll was coach. They kept predicting that Carroll would leave for the NFL and that the hammer would come down on SC. Eventually, they were right about both, but they wasted a lot of breath about it while their teams didn't improve.

Great, he looks good in green and he can get further use out of his now splendid wardrobe. (sarcasm)

You would think with Nike's glitz and bling, that Phil Knight would take better care of his pet coach because that dowdy dude always looks a bit frumpy on the sidelines. cyclops

RS frosh but will be 21 and draft elegible. He makes few mistakes, but I don't see anyone with those kind of tools around now.

He just turned 19 earlier this season. So he won't be 21. But he will be 3 years removed.

How about we boatrace the Ruins, crush Motre Dame's dreams and then beat Chip as a going away present?

Knocking them out of the MNC game two years in a row would make it prettY even in my book

Blem...I like the way you are thinking!!!!

edit: Do any of you think Uncle Phil will put the full court press on him? It seems logical. After all between he and T Boone they are best owners in CFB. stir

All he said was " He is gone because he knows what's coming" I personally dont think he knows the extent, but probably not as bad as we got.

    It is NIKE after all

But not the SEC.....so some penalties are likely.....

  • As much as I despise float fans, if they get slammed by the NCAA, it will only prove that there is a double standard with the NCAA, and a clear west coast bias.

Isn't the NCAA threatening to come down on coaches that break the rules? Pete was never found guilty of knowing about RB...but chippy certainly is implicated in knowing about the pay for play scenario...I think? Don't want to say something that is untrue here.

“I’m assuming the institution is cognizant that NCAA Bylaw 19.5.2.1.1 MAY be applicable in this case based on the COI’s 6/23/04 Infractions Report concerning the institution,” Steve Duffin, the NCAA’s associate director of enforcement, wrote to Glazier in March. The bylaw states a repeat offender could be subject to enhanced penalties if a major violation has occurred within five years of the starting date of a major penalty.

The UO was given a two-year probation on June 23, 2004, for what was termed a “major” violation involving the recruitment of tailback J.J. Arrington in 2003. Documents released in February showed the Ducks and the NCAA in apparent agreement that the current investigation relates to violations at least as early as 2008.

The February documents also revealed that improper relationships with scouting services, too many coaches involved in recruiting and a failure by the UO athletic department to monitor the recruiting practices of the football program are among the potential rules violations.

The NCAA’s formal investigation of the Ducks and their use of scouting services to identify prospective recruits has been ongoing for the past year. One scouting service operator, Will Lyles, has said he believed the Ducks paid him for “access and influence” with players rather than for scouting information about them, which would violate NCAA guidelines.

In September, Oregon received a Notice of Inquiry from the NCAA regarding its use of scouting services. The next step in the process would be a formal Notice of Allegations.

He may be a success in the NFL, but it won't be because of his hurry up offense. That offense will not work in the Pro's. No way, no how.

I'd like to watch his practices with his 53man roster running that offense.

    Fight on!

Personally I want chip to stay. It makes our conference better and I really want to beat them with chip Kelly as their coach. Could you imagine the epic games for the Pac 12 championship every year between USC and Oregon? That's just me though

    Fight on

Like your thinking hope he stays and we go to battle again. We will beat them, we have better athletes but we don't have a system like the quacks have. When we do figure it out or stop being stubborn about it we will flourish. We want them at full strength when we lay into them that's when the victory is that much more sweet!

You realize the 1990's Bills ran a hurry up offense and went to 4 straight SBs right?

And they lost everyone one of those 4 Super Bowls because the opposing team slowed down the game and kept the ball away from them.

Peyton Manning talks all the time about how running the hurry-up offense in practice makes them so much better, because they are able to get in so many more plays than the average team in practice.

I would love to see Manning and Jim Kelly running the zone read hurry up offense, tuck the ball and run. That would be hilarious.

    Fight on!
