posted this on the other board where tirebiter posted but...

    2. WR Marqise Lee, So., USC

    2011: 73 catches, 11 TDs, 1,143 yards, 15.7 yards per catch.

The breakdown: No one does more with the ball after the catch. Speed, moves, dynamic ability.

NFL scout says: “These are the guys where you wish we had the one-and-done rule of the NBA.”

    Wow....that says it all!

still think Robert Woods should be higher than Sammy Watkins...

Lee = Lebron James (physical freak of nature)
Woods = Kobe Bryant (technically skilled and a relentless appetite to get better)
Watkins = Dwayne Wade (explosive athlete who can do it all)

I've said it for almost a year now....barring injuries and white powder/women, Lee will be in the NFL HOF....no doubt in my mind.

  • Nice to see the analysts recognizing these boys. Lee will be considered a top 3 pick when he comes out and that's amazing, considering that he doesn't have the size of Calvin Johnson or Andre Johnson.

Hurts a bit to see Jarvis on there, but thank god we've restocked that position like no other position. Jarvis is a beast and I love seeing him rip it up at another school(as long as it's not against SC)!

Good thing the NBA game has not suffered from the "not ready for prime time" kids.

It would be even worse in the NFL where these kid's bodies are not even done physically maturing...let alone their emotional readiness.

That NFL scout is a shmuck.

Yep...."schmuck" is probably too complimentary....probably a Clipper fan and/or, has posters of the LA City Council on his bedroom wall.

Back on topic---Marquis is beyond special.

  • Still remember when Lane said that after year in the weight room that M Lee could be like Terrell Owens. When he said that I thought it was little to much. Goes to show you I don't know shi!

Scouts and agents should not be pushing for younger players in the league.

  • I didn't take it that way...I took it as a huge compliment to Marqise....he is that good.

Now look at it from the Scout's perspective. If it were up to him, Marqise, would have been draft eligible after his freshman year and he would draft him. The NFL is a completely different animal than college football. From "bounty hunting" to "it's a business"...the NFL is not where a kid belongs until he is 21. From a physical AND emotional well-being.

I completely agree....one and done would be disastrous in football..I just didn't read the intent of his comment as you did.

  • Woods was injured last year. I'm not ready to put Lee above him just yet.

They are both phenomenal either way.

I think Marqise is an incredible talent, but I don't think I'm ready to say he's better than Woods. But if he has a better season in 2012 than Woods had in 2011, I wouldn't be surprised. Not in terms of yardage, catches, etc., but just how he dominates and controls the game. I mean... I think I have watched the Oregon game 3 times through just to watch Marqise Lee destroy the Oregon backfield. Should be a fun 2012 season :)

According to Oregon fans there horrible secondary is gonna stop Lee and Woods this year cause there more experience now

You need to watch more NBA games. It's either a dunk or 3pt shot. The fundamentals of the game are a lost art. Blake Griffin, Russell Westbrook, the list is endless...and Griffin can't even make the 3point shot.

I think that has more to do with the AAU star system than anything else. You think Griffin would be a better 3 point shooter if he would have stayed at OU for two more years?

Look at the biggest stars in the game. Most of them never even played in College

The game has changed that's for sure.Wether that's good or bad I can't say.

I think Griffin would be a better player period had he stayed a couple of more years. And I wasn't clear...all Griffin knows how to do is dunk, however, your 1's 2's & 3's can't make a midrange jump shot to save their lives. It's either bombs away from behind the arc or go for the highlight reel at the basket.

The AAU system is what has screwed the college game. So much so that AAU coaches are finding themselves on the bench of D1 schools as "assistant coaches." When in actuality all they are are handlers for the year that "their kid" plays XYZ University.

  • As special as Lee is, I think we are all beginning to underrate Woods. He's a stud, and had great numbers last season, despite being overworked (kickoffs, punt returns, short passes) and not at 100% health.

I predict he comes back with a vengeance this season, and solidifies his spot as the top receiver in college.
