No offense (and no pun intended) to McNeal's offensive juggernaut last year. However, if Redd joins SC and "gets" the offense, he may become the starter. He's literally a better back. I like McNeal. I do; but some players are just bigger, better, and faster than others and they bring it to the game as well. If Redd comes in Mentally prepped, and knows the plays, he seems like hell just outperform the other backs. There's a reason were all excited for him. I know I am.

You're right, except McNeal is better and faster.
For all the talk about Redd having to face 8 or 9 man boxes (which aren't really evident in his 5 minute highlight video), when he was able to break loose, he didn't show the same open field explosiveness as McNeal.
McNeal had 5 runs longer than Redd's longest run with 100 less carries.

Redd doesn't have the explosiveness McNeil does but two posters close two Lane on TOS suggest the staff thinks, while he isn't 225 Tre Madden, he is the kind of back to wear down a defense in the 2nd half. They really want that! It was pointed out that in the Oregon game we were up 38-14 and having a true grinder could have helped keep the defense off the field and protect the field. The Pac is full of quick strike offenses and having a punishing RB to keep the defense fresh and to protect a lead in the 2nd half is important. More generally, they want and feel like they still need that guy with Madden out. Redd doesn't need to be a homerun threat and I actually thought that was a great point. I also don't get why people keep comparing McNeal to Redd. It isn't an either/or situation and if god forbid McNeil goes down we could have a RB that is more accomplished and apt to finishing a game than Morgan/Allen. I love DJ and hope Allen proves himself when the pads come on. I would also be scared if those were our only two backs.

Your point about it not being an either or situation might be hard for some USC fans to get, as USC has not had much experience with two successful backs at the same time. I mean I can't think of any recent times in which USC has had two running backs both be successful in the same season.
