Silas Redd announcing tomorrow 7/31

  • usctrojan1 said...

You have to forgive us, the last fanbase that was upset at us, rioted, burned couches, threatened a young mother and her children, and flooded our message boards acting like douches for over a whole year after the "incident."

Sounds like Emmert needs to sanction them to change their "culture". :-)

  • It's a win - win for USC and for Silas.

If SR comes to USC we shore up depth and improve our chances while Silas gets an opportunity to compete for a NC on a huge stage.

if SR stays at Penn State then USC's scholarship situation becomes much less complicated and we have a chance to win with our guys. McNeal, Morgan, and Allen is a solid running back combination (I still maintain that Allen is going to surprise a lot of people) while Silas gets to be a local hero and go down as the leader who chose to stay.

    No regrets either way.

He let them them "self sanction" their basketball program.

He gave them a version of the "Death Penalty" and required their program to stay in Knoxville.

Didn't do jack to change their culture, but there's the efficiency of NCAA snactions for ya.

Buck will only surprise me if he does not do very well this season. I fully expect him to be a solid running back.

    Respectfully disagree phear.

If Silas doesn't come, we have three RBs not counting a true freshman who we may play out of position. One currently has turf toe, which could nag all season long, and even if he's coming off a year where he got himself into the doghouse in three games - and who, for all talk that he's looked much better two years after a serious knee injury, we haven't seen that in a game. Another has never played a single down and his senior year film was dramatically worse than the junior year film that made him a national recruit. The third is coming off a tremendous season but has had one productive year out of four in the program and, if he gets hurt, leaves zero in a proven alternative.

So setting aside the fact that we need another healthy body to begin with - hence why we converted Tre Madden in the first place - the situation is far from secure at that spot.

There's a reason CLK said at media day that RB is the weakest spot on the team depth-wise. Silas Redd is the difference between one of the best 1-2 punches in the country and a position rife with potential, but also considerable question marks.

Yep. Even for the sole reason that he'd allow Agholor to focus and develop at WR.

I don't envy what Silas will be walking into tomorrow.

A tweet from the PSU wrestling coach to Silas:

"@MomentOfSilas25 NFL stock goes way up if u stay. Any smart organization takes a great &loyal team player over a great player#Truth #WeAre!!"

    Signed,

Lebron James, who finally got a ring after taking his talents to South Beach and Shaq who went to the finals with 3 different teams and won with 2.

A Wrestling coach doesn't know ANYTHING about NFL organizations and drafting college players. Nothing. Zip. Zilch. Wrestling isn't even really a team sport, I know as a former wrestler. Watch the NCAA tournament........

Why does PSU get to practice today, but USC has to wait a week until 8/6? That makes no sense.

When is their season opener? Or was it just a voluntary workout like the kids are doing at USC?

  • Voluntary workouts today with S&C coach. About 3000 fans showed up at 6 am for rally with the team. This was not a practice.

Scott Enyeart referred to it as a "practice" on twitter, that's why I used the same word. To be honest, I had no idea what it was.

Why is that? Did his account/username have something to do with PSU?

Run the scenarios through in your head. Now, which decision do you think will draw the most hate to his Twitter feed?

No but a good way to avoid nasty twitter messages about you. His account was vvery private as was with few followers, but this way no one can hash tag him or send hate.
