Should we sign 15 this year?

  • I'm hoping we do not sign the full 15 scholarships this year of a few reasons. First, and most important, iif we sign less then 15 that leaves some space for early entrees next year. If we do this we would only have one year that we are truly limited to 15 scholarships (2014). second, we would not need to drop scholarship players already on the team since we are loseing more next year to graduation. Of course if we need the scholarship to sign some fantastic 5 star player we would have to sign them, but hopefully we don't sign players just to fill up our 15 quota.

  • I'm sure that has been brought up by the coaches. I will defer to them to select the best players of need and if that means only bringing in 13 or 14 and having an extra or two for next year, so be it. We have already proved that we can win without having to play everyone. The key will be injuries and, hopefully, avoiding them.

Yes. I hope our boys are eating shit-tons of fruits, veggies and meat over the offseason. Milks, eggs, tuna, spinach, broccoli, etc. etc. etc.

I think the restriction is 75 max so I'm not sure we can save up scholarships like credits. I could be wrong though. Wouldn't be the first or last time.

I think this football administration will become the Rock Stars of EE. We will see recruits virtually groomed for high school to college EE admits years ahead of everyone else.. Also we will be very involved in JUCO-as-farm-team recruits working with the best of them across the nation.. establishing coaching friendships and open-ear info links and having an upper hand signing the likes of Bowman and so forth.

    Move on means FIGHT ON!

  • If you're forced to have fewer numbers later, better that more have at least a year in the program so that they're ready to contribute. I vote to bring in max numbers now.

It's an unfortunate situation, but I don't see how that really helps you. Say you take 12 instead of 15, in the hopes of getting 2 or 3 EE's next January. What recruits are you letting go elsewhere that would have commited? Would they have been important position players?

There is a lot of uncertainty with dealing with EE's. HS kids that want to enroll early, often can't because of the school districts policy or the kid misjudged and isn't ready to to graduate in January. Even with Juco's, many can't transfer until after spring. It's a big gamble to go that route. What we would get in January may not fill our needs as well as if we had taken No.'s #13-15 this fall.
