Sources on Miami saying he is quitting effective Tuesday. We will see, but it would fall in line with how his career has progressed. Undiciplined and overweight did him in. This is why you choose a staff like USC or bama instead of Miami because they will make or break a kid with potential and a Miami will just break it. You cannot arrive at a Miami with bad habits and trust that they will be resolved. This kid was without a doubt the best olinemen in his class and it wasn't even close. But when you choose a Brennan Carroll staff this is what you get. Let's watch Jordan Poland and how he does since he and seantrel are similar in size and potential.

If you don't know what you're talking about you shouldn't speak up. Miami did everything they could to get him in shape & to snap to. He's been suspended twice & demoted to back up duties. This off season he finally lost the weight & finally seems motivated to take the next step. He's missed the past few practices because of a death to a friend.

And BTW, Seantrel practiced with the team this morning.

    You can't be serious?

All time...it's not even close for SC. You may have a point if you want to cherry pick a timeframe, but other than that...compare the two schools for yourself.

Talking about The Present isn't cherry picking a time frame

You want to talk about Frank Gifford, Ron Yary and Marcus Allen, be my guest, but it has no relevence to my point about a CURRENT situation

I would rather tslk about Ray Lewis, Jimmy Graham and Vince Wifork

Or Ed Reed, Jon Vilma, Andre Johnson and Frank Gore

Look at the last ten Pro Bowls or any list if the Top 100 NFL players.
Go by position and see who's groups overall are better

We have them at QB and are maybe equal on the O Line but at most positions they blow us away

You can argue all you want, and I am sure you will, and we can go position by position, but you can present ZERO evidence to support the claim by Free Kobe that Miami only breaks players and doesn't make them.

They have more great players in the NFL than we do and it isn't even close and that doesn't take into account Sean Taylor who would be in the apex of a probable Hall of Fame career, and Brian Pata who would almost certainly have been no less than a third round choice

  • Jimmy Johnson is not coaching at Miami anymore, neither is butch Davis. The Shannon and golden regimes haven't developed talent as well as USC, not even close.
Henderson went to a program that is in disarray and disorganized. Of all those great Miami pro bowlers, how many in the last five years? Further, how many olinemen in the past decade? Miami is where quarterbacks and olinemen go to die.

Winning the academic award in the SEC is sort of like winning the special olympics. Even if you win, you are still a retard.

And you still have zero evidence that Seantrell Henderson would have had different results had he stayed at USC

And for you to bring up Brennan who was at USC for a nearly a decade and at Miami for two years is puzzling

He has the exact same job description at both schools, so exactly what is your point?

Given the antics and lack of success if Dillon Baxter, Markeith Ambles and Kyle Prater( no antics but almost zero development) I don't see how you can call out Miami and give USC a pass

Maybe Seantrel is simply an over rated, lazy ass pussy?

Also, the final chapter hasn't been written on him

There is still a very good chance things will click for him and he will be a Top 5 pick

  • Oh for christ's sake....Miami isn't the problem with Seantrel...he is. I'm glad he decommitted when he did, and we don't have that baby huey on the team.

Couldn't care less about miami and their glorious, and brief, era in the sun. They've also had some of the dirtiest periods in CFB.

    It was rhetorical
My point being that jyst becsuse they haven't had any first rounders does not
mean they haven't put any great players into the NFL

Actually it supports Free Kobe's position. If he is a great player, he should have been drafted higher. He wasn't because Miami did not develop him, he was developed by the Saints. He has talent yes. But Miami has not been developing players in the last couple of staffs. Maybe Golden will do better.

Miami has not done as well at developing players in the last few years compared to the success they had previously. Time will tell whether Golden can turn that around.

I agree that bringing up Brennan Carroll makes no sense. For whatever faults the guy may have, he did a pretty good job coaching our tight ends while he was here. He's not responsible for developing Seantrel.

I think sometimes we focus too much on the guys who left/didn't come here. Seantrel will do well or he won't. Either way, it has nothing to do with any of us or USC at this point.

  • That is my point. Miami does.t develop players as well as this staff or sabans staff. I bring up Brennan cecause be was not a good coach. Look at how pc developed talent his last few years and it shows signs of a program declining in evaluation and development.

  • Lets dive into this Miami vs SC NFL thing shall we?

Nobody is to blame but Henderson himself but what happens if he is surrounded by players and O-Line friends going high in the draft? Maybe it would have been that extra motivation he needed.

Last 10 years O-Linemen draft in the TOP 2 ROUNDS:
-Miami 2 (1 2nd round pick in the last 8 years (ONE!!!!)
-USC 9 (back to back top 10 picks the last 2 years)
You dont think thats motivation for the kid? Seeing his OLine friends being picked in the top 10?

Lets look what Miami and USC have done OVERALL
Last 5 years, TOP 2 ROUNDS:
    -Miami 4 (ZERO 1st rounders)
    -USC 17
Im thinking being around and playing with greatness breeds greatness.

At USC he would have been around top picks, playing next to top picks on the Oline.

i do believe his chances of keeping it all together would have been better if he stayed at USC
(and im sure hes thought about that 3442358 times the past 12 months)

He only played football for one year at Miami. In year two of the NFL he was a monster so it took him two years to develop. If you don't think the ground work was laid at the U you're fooling yourself.

I will concede the fact that Shannon did a horrible job of developing players. Of our top ranked 08 class only Spence & Harris lived up to expectations in college. We'll see how the NFL develops the rest of these athletes.

    No it doesn't
He came there on a BB scholarship and played 1 year of football

Actually he doesn't really count for either position

Like Antonio Gates, he is just such a freakish athlete he could have just shown up in camp and made the team

I don't think you can judge Al Golden based on 1 year

Also, Miami Northwestern is like our Long Beach Poly

    You takes your chances

Sometimes you get great players, sometimes you get knuckleheads

    Or both

Well, at least you have now reversed your position and say he doesn't prove your point.

Miami has not done a good job developing players for around 9 years. Coker and staff did a poor job. So did Shannon and staff. As I said, maybe Golden will do better.

  • Miami probably had the most spectacular, dominant and shining moment (history wise) in CFB history....I doubt it will ever be matched again by any other program. And there is the scandals....drugs, guns and thug behavior.

I don't wish them ill, but after Paul Dee and his hypocritical slam on our program...I hope every evil and dirty secret is exposed, so that fat pig's name is dragged through the mud, like he did to USC.

Florida grad, and miami grad...USC was the football program that challenged both those programs for program of the decade in the 2000s. There was a clear agenda.

    Burn in hell, pig man.
