Scott, Falah conspiracy theory...thought?

  • I know you say that UCLA has basically conceded Falah to USC, but I don't feel so confident that Falah actually ends up at USC. There is something just off with his recruitment.

He spends Thursday at UCLA and then returns for their camp on Friday, doesn't actually compete, but stays an hour later just hanging with Klemm. Those aren't actions of a player leaning towards USC or even being a silent. In this case I think actions speak louder than words.

Additionally, another concern is that I read that it is UCLA spreading the rumor that Falah is a silent to USC. Though a very Rick Neuheisel move, UCLA is desperate right now as we saw with Klemm's tweets, and I would not put it past them to make it seem like Falah is coming to USC and then have him commit to UCLA. Falah might even be leading the coaches on the advice of Klemm to mess with USCs OL recruiting.

Does something seem off with this recruitment? Do you get a sense this is almost like Ellis McCarthy?

  • Yeah, porky (klemm) is sleazy, and it wouldnt surprise me at all if that is what is going on. I mean what amounts to his AAU coach is an administrative assistant there, his dad went there, and Klemm is desperate for him since they aren't exactly in on any other top shelf OL. They CANNOT afford to miss out on Falah

  • UCLA did this to USC with Josh Shirley. Many experts thought Josh Shirley was going to commit to USC or Miami. No one thought he was going to commit to UCLA. On the television show he committed to UCLA.

It just seems very odd that in the last 2 weeks he went from a strong UCLA lean (Scott even predicted he was going to UCLA) to a silent for USC, but is still spending so much time at UCLA. Something just seems off.

As for UCLA's OL, they are the favorites for Christian Morris (the OL from Tennessee) and look to have a good shot at Na'Ty Rodgers (OL from Maryland with an impressive offer list who just camped there).

UCLA fans say Nico Falah is not an offensive tackle. If he commits to UCLA they will say he is an offensive tackle and a great player.

I agree, the Falah situations sounds off. But I am sure CLK, Ed O' and Co. sees this as well, so I am not worried about it. They are still chasing some good OOS prospects for the O-line. At the end of the day, if the coaches feels this is a little too odd, I am sure they will just draw a line in the sand with this kid and if he is not fully on board, just cut his recruitment loose and move on. Ultimately, Falah ain't a make or break player for our 2013 class. Would love to have him though.

  • I don't think there is a conspiracy going on, I think they would rather he committed to UCLA than play any silly games.

I agree with the OP. I'll believe this kid signs when I see the ink. Seeing the 2 OT's do to us what Stanford had them do this year has my guard up. I just hope we keep recruiting some OOS stud OT to compete with him in case he wusses out and chooses the Bruins.

  • I agree that the "conspiracy" idea is a little far fetched, but OTOH the 'ruins are in need of any kind of football "victory" over SC that they can get!

Right now, Kiffin & Co. are killing them on recruiting front. (not to mention the 50-0 beatdown last season)

I agree with you, I was only disagreeing with the "playing SC" part of it. He can commit to SC, but because he has a good relationship with UCLA I wouldn't hold my breath until LOI day.
