SS - question for you, sir.

  • Now that our administration has made their position to retain CLK as head coach public, contingent upon there being a DC change.

I have this question for you. Is the Administration concerned at all with Lane Kiffin's inability to manage and/or perform his 'double duties', for lack of a better phrase?

It appears Haden and the administration are situationally aware with a focus to address and correct our defensive issue but not broach the matter of an OC. Is this a correct statement?

    Thanks in advance.

Fix the defense and the OC issue goes away in my opinion.

  • What I heard, on Pete Arbogast and Coach Harvey Hyde's show, that Haden said Kiff's job is safe on the condition that he hires a new DC. They also said that an OC requirement is probable as well but the OC part is speculation. I'll believe it when I see it.

If the hire an OC (in addition to a new DC), then what happens to Clay Helton or Polamalu? One or the other or someone has to go in order to meet the max coaches number correct?

  • That is a question for Scott sir. My opinion, for what it's worth, is that Monte goes, CEO becomes new DC, and then Kiff hires an OC. I think keeping Coach O is more vital than Monte.

  • It's just my opinion but as long as we can get a DC who understands and can stop today's college Offenses I believe we can score enough on O for now. I truly believe bad turnovers, bad and untimely penalties, and I hate to call out players but in this case I wil, the play of M.Barkley and A.Walker really hurt our O. M.B has been a great Trojan and I can't explain what happened to him this year. Maybe he's been hiding some sought of injury, Lack of protection, or just lack of confindence but his play wasn't what us or even the nation thought it would be. Hopefully we can move Walker to guard and get better play LT from Turek or Banner. Atleast we are taking a step in the right direction. I'm also leary about Coach O at DC. Again a great DL coach but I don't know if he would be the best at stopping the Offenses of today. I hope we can get a DC who will bring some nastiness to our D.

  • Hey achindah, I'm really easy going. It's nice to actually have someone responding to my posts to get a discussion going. Didn't you used to be on the old ESPN forums back in the day?

Hockey, I completely agree. Matt needs to be accountable for his poor decisions. My issue was that he always locked on "crutch" players. First it was Woods and then Lee. I always though if he checked off his receivers properly we would make more explosive plays. Lee is a great player but I think what makes him truly valuable is the fact that he attracts triple-coverage attention. That means woods and agholor are wide open. You could even put McNeal in the receiver slot and get him the ball in open space.

Yes, I was on the ESPN board. Man, how the heck are you? Have you heard from SuperFreak?

Btw I fully agree with you with regards to Barkely's aversion to check-downs. In this regard, I'm not sure whom to blame between Helton and Barkley. Whomever is at fault, they are certainly telegraphing the play which makes the defensive coverage easy..,

  • Yeah I'm not sure if you remember me, my handle on ESPN was RyguySC. I didn't post a ton but would constantly read the discussions between you, SuperFreak, and Trojansrsupreme. SuperFreak is o. This board now as TrojanzFreak, as for anyone else... I have no clue. It's great to reconnect with someone from the old days though!

So what happens this Saturday? I have a feeling we go down to the Irish which I find infuriating cause that would mean they totally back-doored themselves into the championship game. You know, we'd be 11-0 too if we scheduled wake forest for 11 games in a row.
