The vast majority of the PSU fans are ripping him apart on the TOS S.
That is understandable, but they shouldn't mention the words honor and integrity when addressing this particular situation.
It is precisely because of those two words that Silas is a Trojan today.

Haven't seen so much crying on a football board in a long time. I don't remember seeing many fans banding together and ripping ex-SC players when they left during our sanctions. Maybe I just have a bad memory.
They are definitely spouting some stupid shit over there though. I'm seriously beginning to develop a strong dislike for that fan base.
They have the nerve to make statements like "It's ironic that he is going to a football program that actually broke the rules". WTF have they been watching for the last 2 weeks? They do realize the whole facade that their coaching staff and admin group created helped their football team for years, right? Apparently not.
Most of their good posters are steering clear of the thread all together. All of their cry-baby bitches are coming out of the wood-work though.

i just got banned from the psu board
someone was questioning why silas would use academics as an "excuse" saying that he only was after winning the nat'l title.
are you kidding me? PSU academics is the equivalent of a local community college in California. A degree from USC is worth 1,000 times more than a degree from Penn St.

Seriously. PSU's academics are a joke in comparison. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how the myth of quality academics at PSU continues being perpetuated. It's not just Penn State types that believe it.

Sdotk, their education is pretty good. But what they are missing is that Silas' letter indicated the plausible/printable concerns for which he made a difficult decision. He could never have mentioned the real reasons because they could only have been more inflammatory and offensive to the fan base.

As far as grad school goes, they aren't bad at all. Certainly not a top tier school for most (any?) programs, but pretty solid.
They appear to be using ASU's model, where a huge undergrad--tuition paying--population generates huge revenues that are then redirected into graduate studies and research. The obvious downside to this model is that staying selective is virtually impossible, although PSU has done a better job than ASU has in that department. Actually, Pasadena City College has done a better job, too.
