  • Report: Al Golden's Miami staff used equipment manager for 'off-the-books' recruiting - CBSSports.com

Yahoo Sports! is reporting that Al Golden's staff used a former right hand man of Nevin Shapiro to circumvent NCAA rules.

  • No violations as per standard NCAA logic. Paul Dee/NCAA require schools "to put in place the kind of institutional control we have at Miami." Unlike USC, Miami has exactly the type of institutional control they have at Miami.

"The big mistake the NCAA made was hammering OSU so hard. That leaves much less room for the much more serious offenders. Said it at the time that those crowing around the nation about OSU deserving to get hammered will regret doing that. There is no wlitle room to deal with these really bad situations without doing something that is permanently damaging to the football programs."

  • The timing couldn't be worse for Miami...considering their coaches were dealing with a guy involved with Shapiro.

Talk about a big FU to the rules....and there goes any hope Miami can claim they have institutional control.

All of the Scout boards have 1 well known homer...Hineygate has about a dozen. I have a feeling that specific thread is going to be a good one because 1 guy just won't give up.

  • Didn't Yahoo sports first break this story? If so, their journalists are becoming some of the best in the biz! The U is screwed. The NZAA has no choice but to drop the anvil on them!

There was already a lot of smoke out there about Shapiro nearly a year before the first Yahoo article came out. Shapiro was trying to write a book(from jail) so stuff was leaking out. Robinson didn't really break the story, but definitely made it nation-wide.

Come on guys, take it easy on those poor Buckeyes. After 7 straight USC beatdowns and a 38 year winless streak against USC, (what's that about 14,000 days since the Suckeyes last beat USC) can you blame them for their ignorance and hate.

I mean you would have to be about 59-60 years old right now to have legally drank a beer to celebrate Ohio State's last victory vs USC in 1974. Talk about a long drought of frustration.
    Man they must be thirsty!
    cheers

It is good (although delusional) therapy for these Ohio St victims to take to the internet blogasphere
and make things up and talk out their ass about shit which they have no clue, if it helps them cope.

Haha, I bet that guy talking about Tressel for HoF coach, was 1 of the many Ohio St fans who was saying
"we need to fire Tressel" as we walked out of the Horseshoe after #7 helped USC win #7 in a row vs OSU with the incredible 90 yard drive as a Freshman in 2009.

If I only had a dime for every disgruntled Buckeye fan ripping Tressel after the loss that night,
    I could have ....

Paid Terrelle Pryor's mamma's rent and bought TP a new car,
so TP wouldn't have to suffer anymore traffic tickets while "test-driving" SUV's and Dodge Charger's for months at a time. He could have just got all 3 tickets in 1 car instead.

    OK, now this makes sense.
