Vanderbilt is a peculiar choice for a top three (not that I mind since I'm looking to go there for grad school).

Thank you for the post Steve.
This kid looks good, saw some video on him. McQuay, Max Red., Tahaan G., and P. Willis (CB), in addition to Sua ahd Hawkins, that's a lot of DB's for one class with limited schollies. Looking at the slots that are left and the DL /OL / LB targets outstanding, I dunno if we can take all these stud DBs. Hope Lane and Co. can work that out so we can take all these dudes tho.

Not if you believe they are an up and coming program (they very well may be) and genuinely care about academics. Michigan, USC, and Vanderbilt are all very good academic programs. In fact, Vanderbilt has the edge on USC, for now, as an undergraduate institution.

    co-sign.

This is exactly the type of kid we'd like to have at USC.

  • So is he a music major? What does he do? USC obviously has a top music program.

Don't knock Vandy! Regardless of their (lack) of football success, their good players will get drafted. nono

  • I think this is tough. As a pure safety, I think he might be better then Goodman, but Goodman can also play linebacker. In the end, I would pick Goodman based solely on his versatility. Tough choice though.

    TLong85

  • Yeah, but Mcquay can play cornerback too. He looked good playing CB at the rivals challenge, could easily be a nickelback. Either way, versatility is key and Goodman and Mcquay can play two positions.

    TommyE

  • People knocking Vandy in his top 3 are clearly missing a few things-

    1. He is obviously very serious about academics, and Vandy is a very good school. He is probably confident enough in his own abilities that he's not worried about playing for a powerhouse. If he plays well at Vandy vs SEC competition he will get drafted.

    2. Vandy probably has a great music program because they are in Nashville, and the music business is a major driver in the city's exonomy. Unlike most of the South, Nashville is a city with an artistic vibe and a large community of world-class musicians.

    3. James Franklin is an excellent coach and an excellent recruiter. Vandy's class this year is like nothing they've ever had before. He is turning that program around. With the Vols and UF floundering and UGA consistently underperforming, there is a window of opportunity at Vandy. If he stays around for a while, and Vandy certainly has the money to keep him, he could transform Vandy the way Gary Patterson turned TCU around.

As for USC, sounds like Leon is looking for an academically strong school with a great music program and is not concerned about going to school out of state, but wants to play CFB at a high level.

All of these things are great for SC. I kept hearing he had interest, but this makes me think SC has a very real chance of getting him.

Goodman better watch out. His spot might not be there if he waits too long.

  • They should choose between LaRue and Mitchell. Than they can take Goodman, Willis, Redfield, McQuay, Ramsey, Vanderdoes, Rodgers, Hatcher. Of course hang out to both for now and when the rest of this comes together then you decide.

Dude Michigan is the biggest stage period. Seating a small 115,000 with games broadcasting world wide on TV with the LARGEST alumni base period.

We are returning to where we should never have left. Getting the best of the best recruits regardless of where they are living. Michigan is a world wide and galactic brand my friend. Many Michigan grads have commanded shuttles, Apollo missions and walked on the moon. The inside rumor is along with a full size American flag on the moon. A smaller Michigan flag is on the moon as well.

Now that is influence my friend!

    GO BLUE!

  • When is the last time Michigan beat USC. Case is closed.

No, not influence, but a bunch of Looney Michigan fans giggling in the dark. You overrate yourself, just like the old days when USC would drag you through the mud in the rosebowl. Congratulations on returning to that former glory. I guess for teams like yourselves, that is considered an honor and privilege to get your butt handed to you by the truely elite. Good luck with bama.

  • I got a 17 point spread on that Bama vs. Michigan game, good luck "Big House". Your gunna need it.
