Maybe I'm reading a little too much into it, but I think this quote is revealing....
"I might be getting to an emotional decision, which I need to get away [from] and pretty much just narrow it down to a business decision," he said. "Take away pretty much just the factors that are extremely important and will help me with the rest of my life."
I think an emotional decision probably favors USC. He probably grew up an SC fan being from Mission Viejo. He has the legacy of Mission Viejo players here with Sanchez, Madden, Pinner, etc. That and it seems he's bonded really really well with the guys in this incoming class. I think if he goes with his heart, SC is the place to be. That being said the fact that he's said he purely wants to make a business decision leads me to believe he's still leaning to ND very slightly. For whatever reason, he wasn't completely sold on USC's top notch education as indicated by his earlier statements that he wanted to hear less about football and more about academics on this past visit. That and I don't think it favors us that this year ND is going into the BCS title game, while we finished 7-5. The business decision in his head could be Notre Dame.
That said being said, if he really wanted to make a business decision all he would have to do is look at the number of players ND and USC have had in the NFL draft over the last 3 years... 5 years... 10 years. It's not even close. I hope I'm wrong here, but I'm still not sold that the last visit flipped him and wouldn't be surprised to see him pick up a navy or green hat during the UA game.
You could tell from the photo with the rest of the guys in the locker room that he wasn't feelin' it. I thought I was reading too much into those photos but now I think it makes some sense that what you see is what you get, there.
