Looks like Chip Kelly found a way...

  • to not have to discipline one of his necessary players during the season. Josh Huff has decided to not plead guilty to his arrest for DUI and driving with no license. I can't remember what the other charge was. Court case moved to January of 2013. His transgressions happened in March of this year.

Hmmm....that would seem to go against the 'up tempo' nature of the floats.

  • A local Eugene attorney (not Huff's defense attorney btw) has spoken off the record stating that Josh Huff had been suffering from the flu and had recently taken Nyquil or some similar medicine which contains alcohol. The Affidavit lists Huff as under an "intoxicant", speeding and without license in hand (he does have one and it isn't suspended). Is it convenient that he isn't gonna have to deal with this issue until post season? Absolutely. Then again, I'm sure CK and Phil stepped in on a criminal case and had everything rearranged...their track record points directly to this happening with Alonso, Embree, Masoli, Harris, and Beard right? Oh wait, they never have...Facts always seem so important to you guys, unless it has anything to do with another team. Carry on with your conspiracy theories and teen gossip.

Not surprising...didn't Pete suspend a player till his case was heard, regardless of the fact that the player pleaded not guilty?

    Yup...but thats the floats.

I emphasized necessary for a reason. Your team has no WR's besides the lil rat.

Good to know that you believe a "local Eugene attorney(not huff's attorney by the way)."

DUI= Driving Under Influence. He could not produce a valid DL. He was speeding.

Even if he does have a license and just forgot to bring it with him, he was still under the influence of something he shouldn't be driving with. You can't bullsh*t that, above .08 = above .08.

Is this similar to how Simione Vehikite was arrested and involved in numerous felonies in July 11th 2011, then proceeded to play in all 12 games the upcoming season? Where was the outrage then? But it was great when he left the team in February due to the fact that it helped enable your team to pare down to 75 schollies...hmmm, please ignore the hipocrisy...

I'm sure the judge is also sitting there thinking, "This idiot drinks enough Nyquil to put his BAC above .08 and then starts driving? I should toss you in the clink just for sheer stupidity."

Once USC was aware of the situation he was removed from team activities. The felonies occured July 16, 2011, but he wasn't arrested until February 6, 2012. Did you make all that up about him leaving the team?

He was not above .08, it is a very contentious case for this very reason...anything over 0.00 is a DUI for someone under the age of 21 though. This is just one of the complexities of the case which is why it is not necessarily unusual for delays to occur.

I think you are looking for the word hypocrisy, no?

Also, it is much more prudent for one to actually know what they are discussing before inserting an example for their own defense. In this case, you have no clue what you are talking about. Vehikite's situation is much more complicated than Huff's DUI. For you to throw in the conspiracy about USC trying to stay below 75 shows how ignorant of the situation you truly are.

hey 97Duck- im not saying TW1 or anyone has their facts mixed up, i havent followed up on anything regarding Huff, but this is what it is like on the Duck board. Duck posters grab something (CLK giving the kids the boot, etc) run with it, and USC fans are left trying to defend stories that will always be "fact" to others...

Convenient to be sure...but hey, I'm not allowed to assume that there may have been a blind eye to his nefarious (felonious) activities. Those assumptions are only allowed to be made by you about other teams? To be sure, LK and co. turning a blind eye to Vehikite's activities are about as likely as PK and CK tinkering with the court system in Eugene...but again, carry on with your conspiracy theories.

"Did you make all that up about him leaving the team?" nah, it is right here in black and white on my computer screen in a FO247 thread from about 5 months ago. I believe the prevailing posts in the thread read something like,"Well, that gets us down to 75..."

hypocrisy...yes. I was using h"i"perbole for the rise because it seems obvious to me that LK and co. did nothing whatsoever underhanded in their dealings with Vehikite...the assumption they did is just as idiotic as the assumption that CK or PK have stepped into the Lane County court system.

I'm still waiting for any example of the UO coaching staff stepping into a player's criminal/civil court proceedings for the benefit of the team...When statements are made like,"thats just the floats" or "that the nature of the floats" there should be examples to provide as ammunition for the proclamations.

Kind of funny you spouting off here about gossip. Just wondering if most of the posters there on the Duck board think that Nyquil defense sounds reasonable?

I can understand a lawyer grasping to use this excuse no matter how unreasonable it may be, especially when the alleged violator was only 20 so being underage while under the influence of alcohol might bring on an additonal charge against him.

I'm not sure why a local lawyer that isn't Huff's lawyer would be familiar with the specifics of the case would feel the need to tell others about the particulars. Lawyers do like to get their face out there and voices heard, even if they have nothing to do with the equation. Sounds more like something blogger birthed as a possibility somewhere and as it spread elsewhere became known as fact.

I thought they might try and get this resolved quickly, and then dole out the one game suspension punishment vs. Arkansas St. or Tennessee Tech, where the starters probably wouldn't play more than a half anyways. Either way with an early punishment or no punishment at all, he'll still get to face USC regardless so it should matter little here.

I think the situation with LaMichael James and Marc Tyler were unique. Personally, I was ashamed of Tyler's actions prior to last season. At the same time, I was confused with how the Ducks handled the James situation. I cannot remember all of the facts surrounding the case, but the punishment didn't seem to fit to me. I could be wrong, though.

Also, the Cliff Lee situations, multiple correct?, we're bizarre. Add in the fact that Darron Thomas was always conveniently in the passenger seat with no clue there were illegal substances in the car.

Let's be real - both teams could be demonized for how they handle star players punishments. The other fan base will always feel that the other team is letting the player off easy. (look at ND)
