LOL..."DAT, the best player on the field at any time."

  • The Float staff writer, not Hopkins, however, the other Floater said that DAT is the best player on the field at any time. For Float U? Yes. On the field against USC? He'd be like #4 or #5...if that.

  • Yeah I read that.

That's the definition of being an homer. When we'll kick their ass, they'll see who is the best player on the field and it won't be De'Anthony.

  • If DAT dropped his pants I think 100% of the members of the duck board would be on their knees in seconds. My thoughts after reading that thread.

I honestly don't disagree. There isn't a player on the field that needs to be accounted for more than him. Look what he did as a freshman. He's the most exciting player in college football. I still wish he had come here.

    Watkins>Lee>> DAT

  • Let's ignore the fact that Thomas lost the LSU game for his team and look at the USC game.

DAT's stats against USC: 3 rushes for 3 yards, 3 catches for 49 yards, 1 TD.

In that game, Woods was hurt and he made a bigger impact. 7 catches, 53 yards, 2 TD. Marquis Lee had 325 all purpose yards and a touchdown.

Thomas clearly wasn't the best skill player on the field that day. Lee sextupled his production.

I agree, though you have to include DAT's 3 kick returns for 162 yards (54 yard avg) and 1 TD.

If you are using any individual game then no player will always be the best skill player on the field.

Haha. Exactly. Kid single handedly got them back in the game. He's going to be special

So you disagree with Matt Prehm as well. He apparently thinks that DAT is always the best player on the field.

    I take issue with Watkins>Lee...

    Why do people do that?

Sammy played in a very poor ACC Conference (I am being generous) did you happen to watch him against WVU in his bowl game? Lee is greater than Watkins and this isn't just homerism...

DAT was electric, saying otherwise is sour grapes. USC blows out Oregon without him returning kicks.

Our guys were tired from having to cover so many kick off returns?stir

I do disagree. I imagine I will never watch any player in any sport always be the best player on the field/court/ice/racetrack or whatever other playing surface there is.

I don't know how to seperate the two. Totally agree about the conference thing, but Lee also has a possible Heisman winner throwing to him and another all-american receiver who will takes catches and coverage away from him. Both are great and will be great players in the future.

Yeah, that small statistic was obviously left out. Lee had a sensational freshman year. Lee is not the same threat running out of the backfield that DAT is who can actually do both. I'm not discounting Lee's achievements, I'm simply saying DAT is a feared man. Blame Kelly for not giving DAT the ball more than 3 times.

Watkins had Hopkins(who had similar stats to Lee) on the other side, and the best TE in country in Dwayne Allen. There were plenty of people to take catches away from him as well. Not disagreeing with you, just stir

I imagine that teams playing Clemson wanted to take away Watkins first, just like teams playing USC wanted to take away Woods.
