Frankly I can't trust anything I read from Scott Wolf. I feel like he'll take something like 'wants new blood' and expand it to 'wants a coach with absolutely no USC ties'.

That makes zero sense. A blanket non-USC policy? What is the point of that?
It's more likely that Kiffin doesn't want to hire someone with more direct ties to USC AND Kiffin - i.e. Joe Barry or someone like that. Kiffin probably just wants a fresh start with a DC instead of turning to someone he's already worked with.

Does having USC ties really matter? As long as they are great coaches and can recruit. I don't care with they came from ITT. Carroll had zero ties to the programs and look how that turned out.

Banker was a Graduate Assistant in or around 1996 at USC. He is still my no. 1 choice based on the smart football people I've spoken with.
