If we win this game convincingly does that buzz come back.

  • That we had for so many years? Bowl game or not i think that the buzz comes back.

  • Who says it left?

Speaking nationally, I think it would take a win over Oregon or Stanford to really get ESPN and the like talking about USC again.

  • Have the last couple seasons felt like the season sanchez was here? I think a convincing win and something close to that buzz will be back.

I would agree, beating Arizona St is nothing, they are a nothing program. Beat Stanford and/or Oregon and then I would agree.

Exactly. Those are the two big games. ASU is a pee-on.

On the grand scheme of things, beating ASU is nothing, but a very convincing win against ASU will get the voters attention and with Arizona coming off back to back weeks of playing Stanford and Oregon, USC should be 5-0 and close to a top-10 team.

  • Beating The Irish in South Bend will be at least our 2nd toughest test this year. A must win to sustain or even think about "the buzz". But, one at a time, and none will be easy.

  • A win does not bring back the buzz, but it starts the murmurs.

but not because of ASU, they lost to Illinois, it would because SC would be 4 and 0 and picking up steam.

  • I don't think the "buzz" comes back, but I think the negativity by the commentators will get toned down. For example, instead of blaming our play on sanctions, they will express their surprise that we are a top 20 team even with limited scholarships. IMO, we might get some buzz if we go 10-2.

  • Being 4-0 after beating ASU will be noticed.

  • I do think we get some partial buzz. First of all, people will be saying that USC wins the South. Secondly, it is a good road victory. Thirdly, it sets up USC for top 3 conference showdowns w/ UO and Furd.

More buzz by beating Furd or UO, but partial buzz laying the stage for major top 15 matchups for USC in those games. If we win comfortably, we should get a nice pop in the polls.

This was my thinking a 21 point win over asu and the cfb world will start talking. Beating furd or oregon will be much bigger but asu might be the start. Just for the simple fact many people doubt lane and his staff. A big win might validate lane some what in the eyes of the national media.

Unfortunately, ASU losing to Illinois and the late start time of the game works against any buzz. We just need to keep winning and the ND, furd, and Oregon games will be buzz worthy.

  • Look at the games this weekend:

    Arkansas @ Alabama
    LSU @ West Virginia
    Florida St @ Clemson
    OK St @ Texas A&M

Anything short of USC winning by 35+ and it will garner a 15 second highlight.

I'm likely to be BUZZED regardless if USC wins by a point, 2 touchdowns, or loses the game.

The BUZZ has never really LEFT from where I stand.

Now, I did some soul-searching and put the sauce down for 9 months, and am much more careful with the BUZZ these days as it was getting a bit out of control. The BUZZ was still there!!!

Who knows ..even when I'm bone dry sober I'm still a screwball ...THE BUZZ is HERE TO STAY with or w/o the booze!

Anyways this is a good test for the Trojans and I feel many will take notice with a nice win at ASU!
    Fight On!!
BEAT THE SUNDEVILS ...GET THAT BUZZ!

I understand your point, but I have to think a very close/last second victory in a great game would give USC more highlight time than a 35 point victory.

    cstory80

  • Yes a multiple over time game would produce a longer highlight, I agree. I still don't know on which program it would be? ESPN is usually geared up for the NFL Sunday morning, and this game isn't going to end until at least 1:30am on the east coast.

... and this game isn't going to end until at least 1:30am on the east coast.

One would think someone in our athletic department would finally wake the fuck up and come to the realization that nobody east of the rockies is watching our games when we start at this ridiculous hour.

Nothing like playing right into the hands of the East Coast bias, when our games are virtually unseen and completely irrelevant on that other coast.

Maybe 25 seconds, with the highlight of Burfict, getting tossed from the game.
