USC continues to recruit Hutchings extremely hard.

  • I really like the make-up of this kid.. smart and seems to be a high character kid... I believe he'll be an awesome linebacker.. thought you have to love how he's willing to consider other positions to try and get onto the field!

  • How is his speed? I can't find a 40 time listed for him on any site, but Scout lists his speed as an area for improvement.

  • SS I know you have previously stated that you believe we get both he and Cravens. Is it fairly safe to say the Su'a and Hutchings are one and two on the SC board?

  • Stanford is going to fade into the sunset in the next 3 years. They don't have the pieces to stay on top long term. I respect what they have accomplishe recently, but they will not sustain this run much longer. I'm sure Stanford could be a good fit now, but this year people will remember where Stanford's place is in the PAC 12.

Tell that to their O-line class and Barry Sanders Jr

Exactly they had a good oline class and barry sanders jr is good. Now can you name a dlineman they got? What about a reciever?Dback?Safety? They will never field a good to great defense. So that means there offense must be elite to come close to maintain where they are now. Do we really know how good there coach is? Luck called his own plays and the offense was on auto pilot and the defense was average at best.

That's even if their O-line class pans out.Same goes for ours to.

USC is a powerful place that Lane Kiffin is ruining.

they're not going to fade away but they will not live up to the potential of this class. 3 five stars is an anomoly not the norm for Furd'. They are hurting for skill players. Stanford has reached their top, but I say they'll be a top 15-20 team for years to come.

  • You can't be one-dimensional and expect to compete for the PAC 12 title, sure they brought in a great haul of O lineman, but is Troy Murphy going to help stop Algohor or is Peat gonna catch a deep out? Of course not, they got by last yr with the college version of Peyton Manning throwing to TE's. They will be good but not at SC's level. The impact of a big time QB like Luck can't be underestimated
As for Hutching's the kid is a stud.....impact player since his sophmore yr at the top HS in the country, great head on his shoulders kinda like an Robert Woods for D.
We are going to bring aboard an epic class of talent and character kids.

I couldn't tell you with certainty where Hutchings is on USC's board, but they are recruiting Cravens and Hutchings like they are extremely high priorities.

Nice to hear and believe a lot would agree that these would be great guys to build around.

You made my point. You can name 1 dlineman and one Lb thats it. They had an elite oline class no doubt. But not one other unit did they recruit all that well. Other than oline they got what 1 or 2 kids at the most that we wanted. We stole carlise and sareo from there class last year. In the last 2 years outside of there oline class who were we really after?

I think you need to adjust your cardinal colored glasses a bit.

Stanford had a very good team, and brought in a very good class.

They have a great new stadium, and seem to have a good coaching staff.

I think their program remains strong.

Keep in mind, the class that just graduated with Luck, etc was ranked something like 48th when they were recruited, so it's obviously not all about the rankings.

Having said that, I think Stanford will be good for a while, but will slip down a notch relative to SC for one simple reason- "PAC 12 COY" David Shaw.

Stanford was thoroughly unprepared for their biggest game of the year- at home vs Oregon. They looked terrible- not ready for prime time. I put that on the coach, as the entire team looked bad.

Shaw also cost them the Fiesta Bowl when he got conservative and took the ball out of his best player's hands on the last drive.

Stanford also won't get the type of publicity this year that they had going last year. The hype around Luck and the team gave the impression that they had an elite university with an elite football team.

This year, the reality of Stanford will return- an elite university with a solid football team, but not an elite one.

I think that's the level where they'll be for the forseeable future- much better than the bad old days, but not as good as the Luck era.

They'll be at the top of the 2nd tier of PAC teams along with UW and Utah this year.

  • Here is another LB - Jame Vaughters, I believe the USC staff had him in high regard (at least initially, not sure at the end). But either way he will be a good LB. Not L. Dawson caliber IMO, but I would not have complained if he choose USC back in 2011.

Stanford is a 7 or 8 win program going forward. The future of the north is Oregon and Washington. Stanford should not be a 1/2 win team like they were. Until they recruit elite talent on defense more than 1 or 2 kids here and there they will never be a real threat. Don't forget those Stanford kids were coached by possibly the best coach in football period. The longer that program goes without harbaugh the worse it will get. Plus Stanford will not pay to keep a great coaching staff.
