How Does This 7 on 7 Tourney In Las Vegas Translate For USC ...

  • in recruiting? It seems clear SC should go after Willis and Goodman hard as 2 of the maybe 4-5 DB's they seem destined to sign. With safety being a need, Goodman seems like a gamer who could fit well as a FS in the future. Willis would be a great, taller CB we covet. Johnny Johnson seems to be having a very quiet recruitment, but he is evidently one of the best CB's in the West, strangely absent from these high level competitions. I don't know how Hawkins compares, but it seems like the other 3 would be higher priorities not to mention Cravens if he comes to play DB. Redfield is obviously a top target, so Cravens, Redfield and Goodman at S, and Willis with Johnson at CB would be a nice DB class. Thoughts?

Cravens, Redfield and Goodman at safety would be as good as it gets. I also agree that Willis should be the top priority at CB, but I think Hawkins will be a better player than Johnny Johnson, however, you can't go wrong with either. Similar to last year's group of offensive linemen, the talent at corner and safety on the west coast is ridiculous!

    what about Hatari Byrd?

The national guys at the 7 on 7 tournament seemed to think he would end up at LB.

From the articles written, after Cravens, Goodman was the best safety there.

Didn't see Hawkins mentioned at all in any of the reviews. It seemed like the top corners there were Willis and Moore.

I'm still skeptical Willis doesn't grow out of CB in college just because of his size, but he's an obvious take if he wants to come here. Would not be surprised at all to see SC take 2 pure corners (Hawkins and Johnson), 2 pure safeties (Redfield and whoever gets an offer first between Goodman or Byrd), Willis as a hybrid and Su'a as an athlete that gets slotted between LB or DB at a later date. At this point, I think we lead for all of the ones with offers (everyone except Goodman and Byrd), and the fact that all of them have offers this early clearly indicates the staff wants to go heavy at DB, as well they should with the combination of need and talent.

I dont know why Hawkins was not mentioned but he had a great tournament. Tahaan was all over the place, and is just a play maker and a true safety. Did not see Sue Cravens but that Byrd kid, wow he is huge and is a 1st round LB when he makes that switch. if we are going after 2 LB give me Cravens and Byrd. Priest had a great weekend too, Qb's just did not throw to his side.
