  • Good to see KO hasn't lost his touch in offering players that are not PAC12 level prospects.

    TrojanMindSC

  • wow. based on those highlight tapes, I am not impressed at all. He looks like a division 2 player, not a pac-12 calibur point guard. fire coach KO. Please.

This sentiment was also expressed by fans on other boards. They contend that the players KO is offering now are NOT high D-1 players.

Fixed it for you. The majority of players KO has offered or brought in aren't PAC12 quality players. Most are barely mid-major guys.

    TrojanMindSC

  • fwiw.... Tony Parker to the Ruins.

  • The longer KO stays... the longer SC bball stays in the Pac 12 cellar.

    Ray4SC

  • This, for lack of a better word, is embarrassing.

  • Some of these highlights... I kid you not... look like my nephew's JV games. Good grief.

Kahlil Dukes Sophomore Mixtape; The Most U...

This is 5'11 Kahlil Dukes who we've had before on Crusaderr 22 and from the look of things he's improved tremendously. After leading the state of Connecticut in points his freshman, he then decided to prove he was more than a scorer to the critics, and lead the state in assists this year. He then played with Andre Drummond and Kris Dunn on the 17u Connecticut Basketball Club AAU team where he then took his stock from low to high. Here are the highlights from his high school season at Capital Prep and his surprisingly good month of July with CBC. Of all the talk who say he question whether or not he can play against high major competition, here's your answer.

  • We need a coach that knows how to recruit.. KO is a great defensive mind in basketball but he doesn't know to bring in capable players. RUINS will kill us next season.. They just got 3 Five star and one 4 star players. What do we got?? Transfer players.. But wet got a baller in Terrell.

Still looks like a very low level player and his offer list says that much. I have seen better players and more competition at the Lyon Center.

Dukes is being targeted by Quinnipiac, Towson, Vermont, St. Peter’s, Robert Morris, Boston University, St. Bonaventure, Florida Atlantic, Richmond, Cornell and others with MAAC, A-10, NEC and America East offers.

  • CKO inherited a mess. I'm not sure it's his fault that we can't recruit 5 star guys right now.

If we have a good season next year (which we might), maybe that'll change.

Thats a BS excuse. KO has been the same at every coaching stop. Poor to average seasons with middling recruiting. USC is no different.

Not to be rude, but it sounds like KO wrote that for you.

One of the big problems is that the early recruiting signing period take place BEFORE the season. There's nothing KO can do between now and then to change his image. IF the Trojans have a very good season it's then more likely that USC could sign more high profile players AFTER the season.

Respectfully disagree. Also, I'm not all in favor of capturing the "5 star" prima donna guys. More like the high end 3 star/ 4 star guys that can play discipline ball similar to the ones that made the Floyd teams annual conference contenders.

As sad as it is... I might actually be rooting for another underachieving season next year if it is the only way Haden will wake the F up and shitcan KO. Shame on me, I know. But if that is the only way to sacrifice short-term gain for possible long term benefit, then so be it.

    Ray4SC

  • He inherited a much better team and talent then any of the players he brought in. The mess is now not the team he inherited.

He inherited the 2nd or 3rd best player in the PAC12 for 2 years. How many other teams had an NBA first round pick?

He inherited the best and biggest front-court in PAC12.

He inherited veteran players with a returning 14.5 PPG scorer and a Uconn transfer.

All he has done now is recruit players that are barely being recruited at mid-major level. Go back and check how many offers Curtis Washington, James Blacsyzk (after A&M took a flyer on him then told him to move on), Alex Moore had before KO offered.

At the same time, he has filled 2 of his 3 assistant coaching spots with nobodies and already created obstacles for recruiting at local schools.

At the same time, he has filled 2 of his 3 assistant coaching spots with nobodies and already created obstacles for recruiting at local schools.

He also ran off Leonard Washington, couldn't make it work with Bryce Jones (he may be a headcase, but I have a hard time thinking it was all on the kid, and not at all on KO), and essentially just kicked Alexis Moore, Garrett Jackson, Evan Smith and Curtis Washington off the team since we needed their rides to bring in his transfers. He complains about the recruiting class that bailed when Floyd got axed, but he doesn't ever point out that had Floyd not been axed, Kevin O'Neill would have never had the opportunity to coach at USC. His teams have underachieved (this last team was decimated by injuries by the end of the season, but what about the rest of the year?), and he can't recruit high school talent. Think I'm wrong about that? He's planning on starting Jio Fontan, JT Terrell, Ari Stewart, Aaron Fuller, and Dewayne Dedmon. Fontan is a transfer from that basketball powerhouse Fordham, JT Terrell got run from Wake Forest for drunk driving, Ari Stewart left Wake Forest, and fair or unfair, the fact that he was recently arrested for possession raises character questions, Aaron Fuller is a transfer from Iowa who's an extremely undersized 4, and despite KO saying that we'd be lucky to have Dedmon for more than one year because he was a sure fire lottery pick, he looked absolutely lost when he was playing for us. I hope they win games, but god why can't we get guys from high schools who want to be Trojans?

We love Kiffin's prep not hype slogan, and KO is the absolute opposite, hype not prep. Mike Gerrity was billed to be a savior for us, and he was a solid player but nothing special. Then Jio was going to be the guy, and he was solid, but not a big difference maker. Then Dewayne Dedmon was a sure fire lottery pick, and yeah....he struggled mightily when he played. And when it comes to the prep part of the equation? Well the night before his biggest game in his SC career, against UofA in the Pac10 Tourney a couple seasons ago, he decided he'd scouted Zona as much as he possibly could have, and decided his time would be best spent getting bombed at the Marriott and picking fights with Arizona boosters. Yeah, KO isn't the problem, it's what he inherited....ok.

    KingOfLA

  • Look like some nice raw talent .here's what he will see at the NEXT LEVEL ..

..guard him to the right ..notice that? Take away his right side, looks to me all his crossovers and stuff favors his "good" side..IDK..just from that little bit, that little film . Look like he can shoot and move though and dish and dribble drive/create...talent is there...with some solid coaching...OK...

Kids good. Has a lot to work on though

  • having talked to Bryce Jones the week or so before he transferred, he told me that he couldn't stand KO and that KO was not likeable as a coach at all. KO simply cannot relate to the players in this day and age and every other basketball player i've talked to said that he focuses too much on defense, which is why the offense has been absolutely horrendous these past couple years. the key to stopping coach KO is to run a zone offense, cause quite frankly, he doesn't know how to combat a zone defense. We need a coach who is likeable and relates to players instead of somebody who yells non-stop during the games and blames the players instead of taking the blame himself.
