I like the sound of that.

I hope he ends up as a Trojan, but best of luck to Chris wherever he chooses to enroll.

How did I know this...no matter what Mr. Hawkins, you have raised your son the right way.

To me, a young man who is a class act, and serious about life decisions based on multiple factors - with a quality education foremost, is 1,000 times better than any other talented prospect. You will always find great athletes, but when you add character, focus and leadership that goes above and beyond..you get the quality that this current group of players have right now.

Well said. I mean you must be very, very proud to have a son with the kind of athletic and academic ability to pick from Stanford and USC. And have to opportunity to play football and recieve a free education. Wow.

Congrats Mr. Hawkins, and congrats to your son whatever he decides...

Too bad Armondo Hawkins isnt choosing which school cause we know where he would attend.
A kid with a 3.75 gpa and only needing to take two classes to graduate early is a great kid and he has worked hard to be in this position. Good luck to him wherever he goes.

Winning the academic award in the SEC is sort of like winning the special olympics. Even if you win, you are still a retard.

making it sound like he is stanford bound.. shame they are really kicking our butt with recruits who have strong academics aswell as strong athletics

    Co-sign.

As usual, you summed it up perfectly.

Chris will be a great addition to whatever school he attends for multiple reasons.

The fact that he's on track to graduate early says a lot about his character and work ethic, as well as the guidance and foresight he's been getting from his dad- all of which are big positives.

And the idea that a recruit is going to treat a commitment as, well, a true commitment is such a refreshing change. We all complain about how so many kids don't seem to know what the word commitment means any more- it's nice to see that there are still some young men such as Chris who understand what a commitment really means.

Good luck to Chris no matter which school he chooses.

  • Although this makes for an uncomfortable post when a father posts on this board (a reason parents likely shouldn't post), but I was disappointed to read by Barton and JC that they do not believe Hawkins is elite and when they have seen him play recently, his stock has gone down in their eyes.

The only thing that counts is, what our coaches think. These coaches have brought in kids that know all about "team", so who cares what outsiders think?

If the coaches really want Hawkins, why does Barton and JC's opinion matter?

As with every other recruit the coaches pursue, I trust CLK, CEO and co and their evaluation skills over what any scouting service says.

The star ratings are fun for fans, but if you look back over a five-ten year period, half the five stars end up being busts for one reason or another, while a lot of lesser-rated players end up being stars.

If the coaches want him in Cardinal and Gold that's all I need to know because theirs are the only opinions I care about.

I have offered the same sentiments as well. Not a knock on the kid at all. Anyone who has offers from the schools he does has plenty to be proud of. On and Off the field.

However, Tahaan not having an offer puzzles me. IMO, he is the top safety prospect in CA this year as I think Su'a is a Will.

Redfield is a super athlete, but I like Tahaan's tape more. Coupled with his frame and tape he is a no brainer offer kid.
