Well that damn sure didn't take that long.

USC is a powerful place that Lane Kiffin is ruining.

  • Truly sad. Isn't he going to be a father as well?

  • Is this the same thing as the story posted like a week ago? As in he is just going to be away from the team for now so he can get his grades together (since he's ineligible next season anyway), or has he officially been kicked off the team, with no chance to return?

  • It's sad. I hope he realizes his talent and changes.

Keep in mind, there's always darkness before the dawn.

Let's hope that this is his bottom and that he responds appropriately.

I crashed and burned when I was his age, but fortunately the whole sports world didn't know about it.

He's no longer part of the program," Long said.

Long said players in his program have to meet certain expectations and that it's better to "split ways" with Baxter.

Long declined to talk about the reasons behind the dismissal.

According to a source, Baxter had issues with class attendance and falling asleep in study hall. He also has a baby, which added stress to his schedule.

Last week, Long said Baxter was suspended from spring football practice for a "variety of things." Those "things" continued, leading to his dismissal.

Thanks. The bottom part (suspended from spring football practice) is what I was referring to.

  • Said it on the last thread.... probably worst thing he could have done was go back home where he was comfortable. Know too many people and distractions are a plenty. Should have gone some where and started over, do some growing up.

    O'well, best of luck.

People keep talking about his talent, but has anyone considered maybe he has realized that he isnt THAT talented?

Going home was the worst thing he could have done too

    Sad story

Sometimes, this is what you need. I know a somebody, who turned to drugs, was homeless, and made it back to the professional level. Won't give any details beyond that.

There are few people in this world who are able to break down a situation like yourself, and I bet a lot of that comes from your own screw ups. Same thing for me.

Edit: not saying I can debate like you, but that I've screwed up and learned from it.

  • That is very sad, not only for Dillon but also for his young child. Hope D-Bax can grow up and make a life for himself and that baby.

  • This is a sad story that is repeated many times throughout the country. I coached part time with a high school team. We had several players who were solid D1 material who squandered the chance by being stupid or lazy. It used to drive me crazy to kids not reach their potential when it was being placed on a platter for them. Dillon may or may not be the super talent that he was when he came to USC. He seems to have made some bad decisions which have placed himself in his present predicament. His options are rapidly diminishing. It really saddens me to see this.

Disappointment, despair and defeat are the tools God often uses to help us find the way.

To paraphrase the old saying, “Good judgment comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgment.” Good can come from bad, as long as we allow it to be our teacher.

He'll be okay, just as long as he doesn't confuse his poor decision-making with his destiny. As Jim Morrison used to say, the only mistake that can't be undone is a bad haircut.

No he didn't There was actually no autopsy performed on Morrison

It is generally thought he died of a Heroin overdose, but there were so many conflicting stories and people changed their stories so many times that we will probably never really know for sure.

Jimi Hendrix died the way you describe though

Was really high on this kid when he committed to us a few years back. It is so unfortunate to see that he has totally flipped his life upside down with a child and all that. He has a hard enough time taking care of himself let alone a child. I hope not but his may be the deal breaker for DB based upon his support system which seems non existent.

  • Perhaps people will finally realize 'Dillion' was the reason he never saw the field at SC and get off the 'Why didn't Kiffin give him a chance' bandwagon. Hopefully he gets his act together. Still plenty of time for him to do so, he still is very young and has plenty of eligibility left.

  • This sucks...for all the reasons people have already pointed out. As a SDSU grad, I was very hopeful that this opportunity to turn things around would have worked out for him. So much potential. I can only hope he finds the right path for his and his familys sake.
