Long said players in his program have to meet certain expectations and that it's better to "split ways" with Baxter.

Long declined to talk about the reasons behind the dismissal.

According to a source, Baxter had issues with class attendance and falling asleep in study hall. He also has a baby, which added stress to his schedule.

Last week, Long said Baxter was suspended from spring football practice for a "variety of things." Those "things" continued, leading to his dismissal.

Said it on the last thread.... probably worst thing he could have done was go back home where he was comfortable. Know too many people and distractions are a plenty. Should have gone some where and started over, do some growing up.

Sometimes, this is what you need. I know a somebody, who turned to drugs, was homeless, and made it back to the professional level. Won't give any details beyond that.

There are few people in this world who are able to break down a situation like yourself, and I bet a lot of that comes from your own screw ups. Same thing for me.

Edit: not saying I can debate like you, but that I've screwed up and learned from it.

This is a sad story that is repeated many times throughout the country. I coached part time with a high school team. We had several players who were solid D1 material who squandered the chance by being stupid or lazy. It used to drive me crazy to kids not reach their potential when it was being placed on a platter for them. Dillon may or may not be the super talent that he was when he came to USC. He seems to have made some bad decisions which have placed himself in his present predicament. His options are rapidly diminishing. It really saddens me to see this.

It is generally thought he died of a Heroin overdose, but there were so many conflicting stories and people changed their stories so many times that we will probably never really know for sure.

Was really high on this kid when he committed to us a few years back. It is so unfortunate to see that he has totally flipped his life upside down with a child and all that. He has a hard enough time taking care of himself let alone a child. I hope not but his may be the deal breaker for DB based upon his support system which seems non existent.

This sucks...for all the reasons people have already pointed out. As a SDSU grad, I was very hopeful that this opportunity to turn things around would have worked out for him. So much potential. I can only hope he finds the right path for his and his familys sake.
