Stanford is the one university I would not feel bad about losing a kid who is a great student to. It's the way it is.

Amazing that all four of the California PAC-12 universities are ranked in the top 25 in the country. We are definitely a top heavy academic conference.

Haha, the gutties are a different breed altogether. My best friend went to UCLA for her undergrad, then Law School, and my nephew did as well - he'll go to Med School there...but they are the most apathetic group imaginable, with little loyalty or passion regarding their university once they leave...strange group.

If my nephew had chosen Law School (as he first thought), he said USC would have been the top choice, because of the outstanding networking and strong alumni ties to the university.

Not really much to understand...it's Chris' timeline, and one of the few things he has complete control of...and we didn't make it.

He's done his part.

Yeah, kind of like O.J. Simpson trying to dictate the terms of his sentencing to the Nevada Judge who was in control of his destiny... Didn't turn out so well for O.J. now did it.

Or like Guss Armstead trying to leverage the services of his son Arik, in an effort to manipulate the USC administration and medical staff to reconsider their position on the health of older brother Armond. Didn't turn out the way anyone wanted now did it?

Or like Mr. Hazelton trying to dictate his son's playing time to Pete Carroll and staff. Vidal ended up riding the pine, and then having to sit out another full year after transferring to Cincinnati.

Then there is the Seantrel Henderson debacle which hasn't turned out too well for Seantrel after his overbearing father meddled too heavily in his son's recruitment.

Or the case of Dillion Baxter, who's parents called an urgent meeting with CLK to discuss his status and playing time with the Trojans... only to quickly find their son planted firmly on the sidelines, never to be heard from again. How has that worked out for young mr. DBax? Transferred to San Diego and promptly kicked off his new team as well...

Seems like a gross injustice to these many fine young man and athletes, all who share a common denominator... parents who have become too controlling. There are lessons to be learned here...

Don't dictate your own agenda, or put false limitations on your own goals... especially not when the rules and decisions of a well defined process are clearly in the hands of others, and not within your realm of control.

Iron Mike just don't understand your logic.You are probably lonely and believe all life goes through USC. First and foremost as a african american dad I'm just proud my son has done the leg work with his books to be able to attend any university.You are not the one that haas to field calls everyday and take nine classes and be expected to holds a 4.0, then go to track practice, then go to weight training with football team, then go home and study.I have been more than respectful on this board but now you have become a pain in the badunkadunk.The same thing can be said for the kids that became trojans and are bring sent back home for various reasons. Chris is a hard worker and one thing I promise you his life isn't football first or second. Try GOD,family, school work then extra curricular activities meaning football and track.Just so happens he has been blessed in more than one thing. So take your opinions and out then in the 50 yard line and wait for traveler to run over that crap.You still scare kids off from coming heart if they listen to you

I have been following all of the posts regarding your son and have found them very interesting, as I have many of the posts on this board. For the most part I have been a silent participant posting every now and then. I have a grandson who I will allow to remain nameless, he has had his heart set on playing for USC since he was little. He has not recieved an offer from them, and I don't know if he ever will, but has 5 from other schools. He is not an A student, but is a very committed young man to God, Family, school and football. He is competitive and loyal. That is what struck me most about your post. God first, because I believe that God gifted him, and yes will be sure that he is where he needs to be to use his gift and talents. In my eyes he is talented, and I knew Nothing about football until my husband put him in Junior All American (6) years ago. I am the secretary, the one reading about all of the schools, (offers) and (looks), coaches, depth charts, etc. I am learning a lot!! Do they committ early, or wait it out? Is there someone better than them, of course, and they are also better than others. But, in the end the best decisions will be made for these young men with the help of all that love them. My grandson is torn between early committment and waiting it out. He runs track as well, and wants to finish out strongly in his senior year, in the classroom and on the field. He wants to be done with this now so he can focus on his senior year, but he is still holding out for that coveted offer. It breaks my heart to some extent, but I have joy knowing he will go somewhere! Life is full of disappointments and we don't always get what we want. When we look back later, it was probably, most certainly not what we needed. I wish the best for your son and I know for a fact as long as he puts GOD first the best is right there for him.
P.S. We will see you on the field this season as I think you are one of our first non league games!

Thank you so much I'm sure there are many families in our situation.Your grandson is super talented and very fast.My son days he is one of the fastest he has seen on the field.I know that the kids will be alright and as a parent its our duty to make sure of that.Recruiting is a monster that most purples don't understand that's why I entered the sure to give some people the inside story about it but with everything good you wil always run into bad.So once again good luck I'm the game.Rancho has a state schedule if they can go undefeated.They play Servite in second game

Appreciate that so much.Those are the kinds of post that make kids keep their dream school in the running throughout the process.

You're a good dad, soon all this drama and people coming at you and Chris from all sides will end. Focusing on his grades at this point should take center stage and simply move on to greater things and a successful and Godly life.

Best of luck to Chris except when he plays USC. SC will be fine, with the limits on scholarships and the challenges still facing the program am comfortable taking kids that want to be Trojans.

SC is not for everyone.
