If the team does not make the NCAA tournament? I cannot justify a reason to keep him if this is the case. He has a full squad this year, no major injuries. It is embarrassing that we do not have a solid basketball team, nor can we get quality recruits.

I get the impression it is also somewhat chicken and egg. The students don't all go to the basketball games as we don't have exciting, 'name' recruits. And we won't get those recruits with 1/3rd full Galen Center.
“Close tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share,” Reagan vowed.
We'll get those recruits with a top coach.
So, If he builds it , they will come? (of course that's what was said about the Galen Center)

CKO has been given a fair shot as of this year. I've been an advocate of giving him time - both because it's the right thing to do and it's a good selling point for the next hire
Barring a miraculous turnaround CKO is gone after this year. You can bank on it. Pay whatever you have to pay to get a marquee coach. It's worth it.
Cry Havoc; and let slip the dogs of war!
I think I probably had a similar stance to you. We are now out of sanctions and can attract a top-rank coach if we are willing to pay the money. With the Big East imploding power is shifting quick in college basketball. Would a Jay Wright or someone bolt Villanova with enough encouragement? Another go at Shaka Smart?
I know for a fact that the so-called "heavy hitters" have already made their pitch. Not sure what it will take PH to give in to the pressure before he actually does something. The next thing we all have to be concerned with is that Pat actually conducts a nationwide search and attempts to come up with the very best candidate for the new HC position instead of taking whoever is convenient (which is what Garrett obviously did with KO).
What has Haden done as the AD at USC thusfar that would give anyone the idea that he is willing to conduct a national search for anything or anybody? And for that matter, what really makes us think he will actually fire that incredibly talented, well spoken, much loved men's basketball coach anyway? I mean why would anyone think that a coach who led his team to the worst record in USC history last season and is poised to perhaps to even one up himself this year needs to be replaced?
Seriously, this is KO's team made up of guys he chose, and in many cases praised almost endlessly. WTF is KO still coaching at USC??!! Anyone , and I mean anyone who knows a lick about basketball who witnessed the SC debacle last night, the game which SC lost to that powerhouse aka UCI Antfreakineaters, KNOWS that KO should have already been asked for the keys to his office and asked to vacate the premises. That guy is clearly as bad as any D1 coach I have EVER SEEN, EVER. The team played with no heart, no fundamentals and the players made up for it by playing no defense and by shooting one brick after another.
It would not have to cost USC one cent to get immediate improvement. Simply pay that guy his current salary and let one of the current assistants handle the team from now till the end of the season. No one could do worse than KO. It is conceivable that guy won't coach USC to another victory all year long. I was going to make the drive down to Athens to see my boys play which is 6 hours from my home, but that guy killed any desire I have. He is not worth the gas and my time. He just simply BLOWS and there is no other way to state it. And if the AD does NOT REMEDY the situation, it should be grounds for his dismissal. But of course, one can always play the tapes of his glowing, envious remarks about NOTRE DAME and then play them again, to get some idea of what his true passion might really be---at least he seems to have given that impression. Still waiting for that first time when PH takes his foot out of his mouth and actually does something an AD is supposed to do. In now almost 2 1/2 years as AD, PH has done virtually nothing to show he has the fortitude to make a big decision or stand his ground in representing/defending the university that issues his paycheck.
Haden is continuing to reveal himself more and more as Neville Chamberlain without the accent - willing to go to extraordinary lengths to accommodate, appease, and/or ignore the mediocre, poor and evil regarding USC athletics lest he actually have to act.
While perhaps at some point we'll see something different, Haden has thus far been massively disappointing and spineless in the areas where the words and actions of a university's AD are most prominent.
^^^^^ My thoughts exactly. Heave ho, CKO has got to go!
I think CKO remaining as coach depends on the upcoming pac-12 season - school and facilities are too good to not have a better team than what we've seen.
It was obvious to everybody who watches basketball, much less anybody who's played much that CKO couldn't coach. We were talking about it in his first year.
Although all the AZ fans warned us all about him after his SINGLE year in Tucson I thought I'd give him shot...until I got to see first-hand what he was doing. This guy can't coach a lick...he has NO CLUE what he's doing. Add to that the fact that he blames his players dedication, energy, and anything else he can lay on them and the guy's a loser.
The FACT that Haden can't see this is distressing. It suggests to me that Haden has NO CLUE what he's looking for in a basketball coach other than somebody who shows up on a regular basis...because honestly (and this is no joke) those kids would have a better shot at winning games if they had NO coach.
Haden just wasted THREE years of an empty Galen Center on a flat out incompetent decision to keep this slug. At some point the Haden apologists will wake up...he's an admirable guy but a crap AD.
Add another loss to the mighty 3-7 Georgia Bulldogs...64-56 Georgia.
