Saw a snippet on the Domer Board last night from a long time poster on this board, claiming that he expects USC to "Lay down" against ND because they have "No heart" ( other than Marqise Lee, that is)
What say you?
Seems to me that a perfect opportunity for a team with no heart to lay down would have occurred when looking at a 24-0 deficit to his Bruins...yet we didn't see that.
Seems to me that a team looking at 21-3 and 27-10 deficits against Oregon would have laid down if they had no heart... But they kept battling back.
Why do you suppose that is?

I certainly don't expect you to roll over and die, I think your coaching staff is incompetent at best and I've been raised to hate all of you but your teams are always extremely talented and it's one of those rivalries not unlike 'bama/auburn where mo matter your record it's always nice to fuck up the other teams season lol
I have a slightly different perspective. Lay down may not be the right words but I don't see much fight when the camera scans the sidelines. I see individuals celebrating plays on the field when we're still down on the scoreboard. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they shouldn't celebrate a big play but let's save the celebration on defense for when they are forced to punt. Even when the camera goes to Lane he never looks confident or in charge. He looks nervous, almost unprepared. It's hard to describe but I'd feel better if he came out a bit arrogant. The previous Friday Night Videos don't look that inspiring in our locker room. When I watch this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kleLJfKDYUE ) I wanna take the field and rip someones heart out. I want to put it all on the line for my teammates, for SC. I want to see that kind of passion in the 4th quarter. Lay down, no, but I don't see the win at all costs attitude in the 4th quarter. Sorry but the ucla game has really left me uninspired about the future of SC football.
If I was Notre Dame I'd be worried. Now that ND is ranked #1, they're supposed to win and win big, after all SC is unranked and coming off a loss. It's SC's senior night and the last game at home for 2012.
ND could easily be sitting here at 7-4 but because they had the ball bounce their way and the refs did their best (see Pitt game) to keep ND in the running they come in at 11-0. To me this is the weakest late season #1 that CFB has had in recent memory.
SC has everything to gain and really nothing to lose and I think the players know that. I can't wait until Saturday and to settle in to my seat in section 15 row 60 even though I have to strain my neck to see the replay on the big board.
It's going to be a GREAT NIGHT!
This team will play hard the whole game against ND, no doubt in my mind.
Who the f++k do you think you are? One year Notre Dame wallowed in it's customary position of irrelevant. Fast forward a year and finally being able to finagle the customary man made schedule has paid off. Four true road games? And name two tough back to back games? Faced one team with an offense in the top 50- Oklahoma... As a SC grad , I have always respected this rivalry, but the people like yourself are the reason 90% of the other fan bases despise you and your 8,000 member cult you call a University.
You concentrate on red face and his pro-choice views( quite a Catholic- HA) and let us worry about CLK!!

It was me. I'd like nothing more to see the Trojans humiliate ND, being proven wrong would make my Thanksgiving weekend.
Are you Icelandic?
Incompetent at best!...The same freaking staff that made your coach and team quit last year?! We may go 8-5 this year (like your team did last year)...Was your coaching staff incompetent?
Brian Kelly is a troll....I hope his head explodes on Saturday!
Fight On SC...Beat the Domers!
"It's what a brother would do for another brother"
You sir are an idiot, I for one am not Catholic but I doubt too many people are concerned with Kelly's own personal beliefs on non football related issues. The fact you've been a better team the last decade isn't debatable but if you don't think your on field performances are a microcosm of the lost faith in your staff then I don't know what to tell you. Your team is not going to quit but if the players aren't buying into the coaches anymore then it won't matter. While you bash our schedule I hope you realize that it was preseason #1 and considering how eveybody likes to point out how poorly we beat teams then I'd assume it would be common knowledge that we can't win other team's games for them as
well. Anything else you took as bravado was simply me saying the records don't matter in games like these so I expect a fight from the condoms.
Don't get the Icelandic reference. Your coaches didn't suit up so they didn't make us "quit", your team did. They were bigger, faster, and stronger and they obviously won the game because of it....and for the record I hope Kelly's head does not explode on Saturday.
Lane Kiffin sure as hell out coached BK last year and I have a feeling he will this year.....get over yourself Irish...you're finally relevant and you just don't know how to act...Can't wait to knock you guys down a few notches....
Edit: You didn't answer my question...was your coaching staff "incompetent at best" when you went 8-5 last year?

I was born 3 weeks before our last title, you can't knock me down anymore notches. We won't be any more or less relevant whether we win or lose this week.
Edit: you didn't answer my question, how does Iceland figure into this at all?

And the most pathetic thing is not only did you no attend the cult at Notre Dame, you probably have never even graced the campus. Go away , lock yourself in your mother's basement, and get ready to be beat Saturday.
Save the insults for your domer boards.
But to answer: I don't think they were incompetent, I think they were tearing down a giant shit wall to the shit palace that Charlie Weis left. We even had major staff changes this off-season, we're lucky the new coaches assimilated so quickly and as of now we have no reason to believe that Kelly can't keep us a perennial top 10-15 team.
Simple voter bias gets you there if you just play reasonably well.
Tommy, Rebel, and our newest rescue Harley!
There are countless GOOD Trojans that are Catholic..I hope to God that is not what you're referring to....
"Here are provided seats of meditative joy, where shall rise again the destined reign of Troy." Virgil
Helen of Troy=legitimate complaints of our conflicting interests, you=troll. You realize your poster rating is probably 95% made up of YOUR OWN BOARD, if they don't like you then why should I take you seriously? But to address your assumptions I was actually born in South Bend and have "graced" campus many times but you are right about attendance, I attend a quaint little liberal art school in Charleston until
completion in December, probably on par academically with USC.
We have no room to be picky
I'm catholic... I'm referring to the clowns like this guy who hurl insults at my Alma Mater all in the name of ND and yet never attended as it is a small school of 8,000.
Anytime someone brings in race, ethnicity or religion in a derogatory manner, that is not condoned by the majority of this board. Sorry.
Let's continue the discussion - even with a little trash talking, but leave out the bigotry.
Oh, I see...but really, "cult" is not a good word to use here...
Count off the insults to the UNIVERSITY of Southern Cal....I'll wait...
Your board is full of conversation... That's your cue..
Fight On! And Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Trojans.
Another glaring difference, maybe it's just the southern in me but I'd wish safe travels and happy holidays to all, not just people who put up with me.
USC is a University. Notre Dame is a University. I do not hate anyone from USC. I wish them all well in their lives. I hope Notre Dames football team beats the USC football team and that is the end of my hoping for anything. I don't get how someone from either of these, or any university fan could hate someone they have never met. Anyway, good luck to all, Happy Thanksgiving, and enjoy the game. May the best team win.
