Max Wittek or Matt Barkley for our bowl game?
2013 will be a big year for alot of reasons at SC, among them:
- Kiffin trying to keep his job.
- Check out the new D with the new coordinator.
- MUST bounce back year.
- Our 1st NEW starting QB in 4 years.
- 1 of the best WRs in college football history takes the field for his last year.
SC might be playing in the Sun Bowl on Dec 31st. Who should our QB be?
No matter If Wittek lights the world on fire vs ND, or if he shows that he needs ALOT of work, for the best interest of 2013, I hope he goes into that season with 2 big game starts under his belt.
Give Barkley's injury time to heal for the combine/workouts.
But what if Barkley is fully healed and ready to go?
To me, the answer is simple. You have to let Barkley play. You cannot allow his Trojan career end being knocked out of a game. Hopefully, whoever we play in whatever bowl game we play in will get shellacked, so that Wittek can get some snaps in the 4th quarter. You gotta let the Seniors go out on a high note, considering how much of a failure this season was.
Barkely, and not even close. plenty of time for max to play.
even if Max pulls out the win vs ND, this is Barkleys team, he deserves the right to finish his last game as the starter if he's injury free.
Barkley. I hope he throws 6 TD's and no picks to get his draft status back on track.
Owe it to Barkley.
Nah, let him get 7 TD's, so he breaks his own record!
depends how Max plays vs ND and if Barkley is even 100% healthy.
Barkley and there's no argument! He stayed and got us through the bowl bans and, if able, he deserves to start. Hopefully, Wittek AND Kessler will play also!

shouldn't even be a question. Play Barkley, no matter what.
Looks like CLK has already made his decision....
"coach Lane Kiffin insists that Matt Barkley will suit up and play for the Trojans in their bowl game."
November 17, 2012; Pasadena, CA, USA; Southern California Trojans quarterback Matt Barkley (7) looks to hand off the ball in the third quarter of the g
Ah good find!!!
Let hope Barkley does some work in the 1st 2-3 quarters and pads those #s.
Then Max gets a full 1-2 Qtrs to sling the ball around.
No question. Barkley. Kid has earned the right to play in a bowl game!
Barkley - no question.
Not even an issue - Matt Barkley all the way.
Here is an interesting trivia question which I don't know the answer to. Name the last full time USC starting quarterback who lost his last career regular season start. Mustain and Corp do not count.
How did Wittek look at the end of the ucla game? I only saw a fumbled snap and then I had to leave the game and I forgot to record the game.
how did his passes look? how did his mobility look?
What is happiness? The feeling that power is growing, that resistance is overcome.--Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche
He escaped the pressure on one play and dumped it off to Curtis for a nice gain. His passes have zip on it.
I read that over the last few weeks, he has been receiving increasing reps in practice with the first team.
Don't think it was Rob Johnson.
Mike Van Raaphorst for an injured Carson Palmer in 2000? Doesn't quite fit "full-time"...
maybe 1997 - QBs were John Fox & Quincy Woods?
no fumbled snap, the snap was snapped into his shins
but he's looked fine out there, nice passes, good zip, accurate
Ya, Max only threw the ball 2 or 3 times.
If I remember correctly he had some happy feet (his adrenalin was probably at a 10) which is understandable .
But he did complete all 2 or 3 off his passes.
How about the quarterback that gives us the best possible chance of winning? Matt's been great but the game should be about winning, not about who deserves to start more.
It shouldn't really be in question.
Barkley has earned the right to that bowl game. He has made some mistakes but it isn't like he has had a horrible career. Statistically it has been better than 99% of the QB's to play in the Pac8,Pac10,Pac12 over the years.
This isn't the NFL. They are student athletes.
Besides, You don't want his last play to be a driving tackle from your crosstown rival in a loss.
"...an economy hampered by restrictive tax rates will never produce enough jobs or enough profits" JFK
With everything that Barkley has done for USC I don't care if Wittek channels the ghost of Lendak and throws 42 TD passes - Barkley finishes his SC career with a win in a bowl game.
Cry Havoc; and let slip the dogs of war!
Matt Barkley .... without a doubt if healthy plays in the bowl game.
He has been the face of the program through some difficult times at USC.
#7 will not be forgotten and has earned the right to go out playing in a bowl game.
There is no question. If Matt can play, he does. Even if Max proves he's 100 times better than Barkley against notre dame (obviously, that's something one game or even one season can't truly show), Matt plays if he can. This is Matt's team, and he deserves it no matter what for what he's done for us.
