I read somewhere that Biggins called him the best defensive tackle prospect in 10 years. Do any of the better talent assessors on here agree with that assessment? I would think if he was that good there would be more consensus as to him being the #1 DL for each site the way there was for DE Clowney. Just wondering what people's take was.
I guess it's just spinning wheels though since it seems like everyone and anyone is predicting him to Ucla. Sigh. Btw, if that's true my Bruin colleagues will be insufferable on Wednesday night. Insufferable. I'd rather have my pubic hair tweezed out one by one while someone burns my taint with a soldering iron than deal with that but, it is what it is.
Not sure I'd say he's better than Bigelow ... so ...
Cry Havoc; and let slip the dogs of war!
I get the feeling Bigs is considered more of a DE in a 3-4 than a NT whereas Vanderdoes is a NT type talent. No?
It will be an absolute disgrace to lose him to the twits in powder blue.
We said that about Ellis McCarthy though.. Who know's how players turn out!
He is definitely "up there" but I wouldn't put him in the same class (yet) as Ndamukong Suh or Glenn Dorsey (yes... a NFL bust but still had a beast career at LSU).
I feel as though Bigelow could play NT as well as EVD but has the flexibility to play SDE in a 4-3 whereas EVD is a DT. In short, Bigelow is just as strong and explosive but with more top end speed and range. That being said, EVD is outstanding and I have limited observation of any relevant comparison metrics. It could be that EVD is the stronger player but I just can't tell because they're both so much stronger than their competition.

Very True, but McCarthy always seemed to lack the work ethic and tenacity that Vanderdoes already has displayed.

EV is a beast no matter what school he goes to. Why is it when we feel a player isn't coming to SC we have to knock him down a peg?
No one is trying to knock him down a peg. I'm just not ready to call him the best DT prospect in a decade. That's a bit much for any recruit.
True, I dislike hyping guys up like that. I hope he comes here, but if not at least we have K Rodgers to greet him.
Vanderdoes is a legit blue chip DT
On 247 Sports, Vanderdoes is the #1 DT
On TOS-ESPN, Vanderdoes is the #1 DT
On TOS-Rivals, Vanderdoes is the #2 DT (behind Kenny Bigelow)
On TOS-Scout, Vanderdoes is the #2 DT (behind A'Shawn Robinson)
He will make a major impact wherever he lands, including Alabama who already has a stout defensive line.
his opinion will change towards him, if and when he commits to SC.just like ESPiN does .
No Excuses,'' 11 x National Campions anyday, anytime ,anywhere.
spot on ray- I would add Price possibly to that group - eddie is the truth though and could match these guys
