Or what about trying to get one of the guys off Calipari's staff? I don't know anything about those guys, other than it seems like they can recruit their ass off. Hell, they practically have to replace half the roster each season after they lose a bunch of lottery pick kids and still manage to make it deep into the tournament each season.
Orlando Antigua - Assistant Coach
Kenny Payne - Assistant Coach
John Robic - Assistant Coach
I don't know who we'll hire or who we should hire. I just know that I want him to play a more uptempo style of offense.
Make USC basketball fun to watch. That's all I ask.
By the tone of your post, it seems you still believed in KO.... How much more evidence did you need that he was an awful coach?
And a flawless performance against Utah isn't anything to celebrate. Utah is awful.
Mike Hopkins - Assistant at Syracuse with LA ties
Robert Pack - Assistant on the Clipper and trojan
Two names being thrown around on twitter
Didn't mean to imply that I felt KO was the guy going forward... I just like seeing our guys play so hard and with passion. I agree with you and most others that a change is needed. I'm just surprised by the timing. Give me a few hours to digest and I'm sure I'll feel pretty good about this (:

Great news for the next USC coach: the 2014 class is loaded in SoCal and many of the kids are still wide open.
I love Robert Pack!
I think he would be a great hire!
A former Trojan to energize the fan base.
A 13-year NBA Vet and current assistant coach.
Plus, the relocation is pretty easy.....
I remember he was on that 93-94 Denver Nugget team that was the first 8-seed to upset a 1-seed (Seattle SuperSonics)!
I looked up the box score in that Game 5. He had 23 points in 36 minutes.

We can only hope that Pat Haden is capable to making a good decision on his replacement.
I would roll with Pastner with Tony Bland at SDSU as one of his assistants.
I can't see Jamie Dixon leaving Pitt.
Pack could be a great surprise. I think he has head coach written all over him.
You weren't thrilled with Floyd, but you seem to defend KO.Well,TF lead us to some accomplishments that hasn't been reached by our recently departed coach.I was there to witness a sold out Galen Center and the atmosphere was great! In fact, it doesn't get better than the day I saw Saint Pete walk into a crowded Galen Center with a handful of recruits.
The potential is there if the right guy is hired.Case in point, UNLV,Colorado,San Diego State and as far back as Arizona under Lute Olson. Stop making excuses for a guy with a nice looking wife with a house in Coronado Island. He'll just fine!
I know VERY little about college basketball coaches.
I wonder how much a HS kid would be swayed by a coach who played 13 years in the NBA?
At least Pack knew what it took to make a long career in the league. That would have to be a great selling point.
Plus, the McKay Center and Galen Center.
I like bringing in outsiders to coach, but I think the time is right to bring back an alum to get the B-Ball program turned around.
Trust me 'dena, I agree that the TF years were WAY better than the KO years. I'm not making excuses for KO (I didn't mean to, at least).

Not much....Recruiting in CBB is all about AAU contacts and getting dirty in a way. I would much rather get someone experienced in CBB than the NBA.
About damn time.
This is the guy!
Grew up and Lives in LA
Coaches the Defenders
Did very well in NM
Can talk for 30 mins to anyone
Tark pulled for him over his other player for the UNLV job which was his dream job
Coached under pitino
As long as we don't get the "volunteer"...I'm happy.
Not only would I like to see someone that can coach well, I want someone that will stick around to give the school some continuity. That has been sorely lacking. Let's hope that Haden has good people to choose from and makes a choice that works out for many years.
